Description
Kirari Tsukishima is a fourteen-year-old girl who serves as the central character of her story. She is a student whose life is dramatically changed after an unexpected encounter with the entertainment industry. Standing at approximately 157 to 165 centimeters tall, with strawberry-blonde hair and blue eyes, her most defining physical traits are often eclipsed by her immense appetite and boundless energy. Born on July 7th, her name reflects a connection to light and the moon, as "Kirari" is an onomatopoeia for shining.

Kirari's personality is marked by a cheerful and determined nature, though she frequently exhibits clumsiness and a notable lack of common sense. Her most prominent characteristic is her gluttony; she is a notorious big eater with a particular love for crepes and octopus balls, often consuming massive portions that astonish those around her. Despite her beauty, this obsession with food tends to overshadow her charm. She is also remarkably unskilled at household chores, including sewing and cooking, with her culinary attempts famously resulting in creations that inexplicably resemble mushrooms. However, these shortcomings are counterbalanced by an unwavering spirit and resilience. She is a plucky girl who, despite frequent failures and a lack of natural talent, perseveres through sheer determination and an optimistic refusal to give up.

Initially, Kirari had no interest in celebrities or show business, as her world revolved almost entirely around eating. Her motivation to become an idol begins not with ambition, but with love at first sight. After rescuing a turtle named Kame-san, she meets a kind boy who gives her a concert ticket as thanks. Upon discovering that this boy is Seiji Hiwatari, a member of the popular idol group SHIPS, she declares her intention to enter show business solely to get closer to him. As she navigates the challenges of the entertainment world, however, her motivations evolve. She develops a genuine passion for performing and connecting with audiences, transforming her initial crush-driven quest into a sincere love for her work as an idol.

Throughout the story, Kirari's role evolves from an ordinary student to a rising star. Her career path includes forming the temporary unit Kira☆Pika with Hikaru Mizuki, a talented girl struggling with stage fright, and later becoming part of Milky Way with Noel Yukino and Kobeni Hanasaki. She takes on diverse roles beyond singing, including acting, managing other talents, and participating in variety shows, all while trying to maintain her studies.

Her relationships are central to her growth. She shares a deep bond with her pet cat, Naa-san, who is incredibly intelligent and protective of her, often helping her with problems and even communicating with her. Romantically, her feelings shift from Seiji, her initial idol and first love, to his bandmate Hiroto Kazama. Though her relationship with Hiroto starts with conflict, as he tears up her precious concert ticket, it deepens into friendship and eventually love. She also contends with rivals like Erina Ogura and receives guidance from her manager, Kasumi Kumoi, and the agency president, Mr. Muranishi. Her family includes her supportive father, Takashi, her older brother Subaru, and her estranged mother, Luna, an actress whose own career choices parallel Kirari's journey.

Kirari undergoes significant development over the course of the series. While she begins as a tone-deaf amateur with no skills, she improves her singing through rigorous training with Naa-san. She also learns to become more competent, improving her disastrous sewing skills with help from Hiroto. Her emotional journey involves navigating the complexities of her feelings for two different boys, ultimately realizing that her love for Hiroto has surpassed her initial crush on Seiji. She faces major career crises, including a scandal that drives her popularity to zero and pressure from a rival to abandon her cheerful persona. In these moments, she demonstrates her greatest ability: her resilience. Rather than staying defeated, she regains her footing through hard work and street performances, proving her dedication to her fans and her craft. Her notable abilities include an astonishing capacity for food, an inexplicable talent for turning any dish into a mushroom-shaped creation, and the unique gift of understanding the language of cats through her bond with Naa-san.
