Description
Gauss Magnets is a character who appears in the anime Rockman.EXE Beast, but his role in the story is built upon events and relationships established in earlier series of the franchise. Within the narrative, he is the former head of the Gauss Concern, a massive global conglomerate, and is a figure whose past is deeply intertwined with both legitimate business and shadowy criminal organizations.

His background is marked by a complex family history. He is the elder brother of Jack Elekiel, also known as Elec伯爵. Gauss was sent away to marry into the wealthy Magnets family, which caused a significant and lasting rift between the brothers, leading to a relationship characterized by constant bickering and outright hostility whenever they meet. This personal history informs much of his demeanor and his later affiliations.

Gauss Magnets exhibits a highly distinctive and eccentric personality. On the surface, he presents himself as a refined and even philanthropic businessman, but this exterior hides a much stranger and more volatile interior. When his emotions run high, particularly when excited or stressed, he undergoes a startling transformation: he dons a mask and a dress, adopting a flamboyant, hysterical, and stereotypical effeminate manner of speaking. This bizarre habit is a defining trait, often catching other characters off guard. Furthermore, he is an ardent and obsessive fan of the nefarious Dr. Wily. He is a passionate collector of Wily-related memorabilia and holds Wily in the highest regard, viewing his former organization, WWW, as a stain on his idol's otherwise flawless legacy. Despite these eccentricities, he is not without skill or paternal affection, showing capacity for clever planning and a genuine, if often unappreciated, care for his daughter.

His motivations throughout the series are driven by a combination of his fanaticism for Dr. Wily and his tumultuous personal relationships. In earlier series like Rockman.EXE and Rockman.EXE AXESS, he served as a high-ranking executive in the crime syndicate Gospel, working to fulfill a scheme he believed would reshape society. However, his capture and imprisonment shifted his focus. By the time of Rockman.EXE Beast, his primary motivation is tied to his daughter, Tesla Magnets, and his own survival. After being sprung from prison by her, he finds himself in the subservient role of her butler and housekeeper, a position he accepts with resignation as he is dependent on her.

Within the story of Rockman.EXE Beast, Gauss Magnets's role is that of a supporting antagonist, though a diminished one compared to his past. His primary function is to serve his daughter, Tesla, who has taken over his company and formed a new iteration of World Three, known as Neo WWW. While he was once a mastermind, he is now often seen performing menial tasks like vacuuming the hideout, following Tesla's commands, and providing a mix of comic relief and technical support. His key relationships are central to his character. His most defining bond is with his daughter, Tesla, who treats him with contempt and as a servant rather than a father, yet he remains loyal and uses his skills to aid her, even creating a special Synchro Chip for her as a birthday present. He also maintains his hostile rivalry with his brother, Jack Elekiel, and their antagonism continues to be a recurring point of conflict. His previous relationship was with his own NetNavi, MagnetMan.exe, but upon his rescue, Tesla claimed the powerful Navi for herself, leaving Gauss without his original partner.

Over the course of his appearances from the original Rockman.EXE series through to Beast, Gauss Magnets undergoes a significant but unusual development. He transitions from a powerful and threatening leader of a global criminal conspiracy to a bizarre, cross-dressing fanatic, and finally to a servile and somewhat pathetic figure who is bossed around by his own daughter. This transformation strips him of his power and dignity, recasting him as a more complex figure who, despite his flaws and absurdities, retains a spark of technical genius and a subdued, paternal love for his family.

While his personal combat abilities are not often highlighted, Gauss Magnets is portrayed as being highly capable in technical and strategic fields. He demonstrates proficiency in constructing complex technological devices, most notably managing to collect the scattered fragments of a Synchro Chip and successfully restore it to working order. He also shows a capacity for quick thinking, such as when he deliberately created a malfunction in a Dimensional Converter to orchestrate an escape from a dangerous situation. His true power, however, was originally channeled through his NetNavi, MagnetMan.exe, who commands powerful magnetic fields, though this is a tool he loses access to in the events leading up to Rockman.EXE Beast.
