Description
Mahajarama, known in some English adaptations as Yahoot, is a character who appears in the Rockman.EXE anime series, including its final season, Rockman.EXE Beast+. He is the operator of the NetNavi MagicMan.EXE. Initially introduced as a prominent member of the criminal organization World Three, his path undergoes a significant transformation over the course of the series.
As a high-ranking agent of World Three, Mahajarama was tasked with carrying out schemes to spread chaos across the net society. He is a figure of many talents, being a master of yoga, a skilled programmer, and a world-renowned curry chef, hailing from a family with a generations-long legacy in the culinary arts where he is the 27th head of his line. After the downfall of World Three, he and his fellow former members choose to leave their life of crime behind. They relocate to a region reminiscent of a tropical resort to start an honest new life, opening a successful curry restaurant named Maha Ichiban. This establishment serves as a primary setting where many characters, including the main protagonist Netto Hikari and his friends, gather and work.
In terms of personality, Mahajarama is generally portrayed as a calm, wise, and paternalistic figure, especially in his later appearances. He is often the voice of reason, offering thoughtful advice to younger characters and maintaining a composed demeanor even in chaotic situations. For instance, when a frightened Dingo began to panic over a supernatural occurrence, Mahajarama physically and verbally calmed him down, demonstrating a no-nonsense yet caring attitude toward his employee. He also shows a great deal of practical wisdom, such as when he wisely advised against intervening in a marital dispute between Count Elec and his wife, noting that such matters are best left to the couple themselves. Despite his reformation, he retains a subtle ambition, as it is hinted that he and his old colleagues still harbor a faint, unfulfilled desire to revive World Three.
Mahajarama’s primary motivation shifts from world domination to maintaining his new, honest livelihood and supporting those around him. As the owner and chef of Maha Ichiban, he provides employment and mentorship to several characters, including Dingo and the young Dex Ogreon, whom he takes under his wing as a curry chef. His role in Rockman.EXE Beast+ is that of a supportive ally and a source of reliable information. He often provides a calm sanctuary for other characters and uses his past experience and knowledge to help Netto and his friends. In one episode, Netto seeks out Mahajarama to learn about a mysterious figure known only as the Professor, an individual who was once part of World Three, highlighting Mahajarama’s value as a source of historical insight into past conflicts.
Key relationships define his later role. He is a close friend and business partner to his former World Three colleagues, with whom he runs the restaurant. He acts as a surrogate employer and mentor to Dingo, whose impulsive nature is often tempered by Mahajarama’s guidance. His interactions with the main cast, such as Netto, are friendly and cooperative, with Netto and his friends often visiting his restaurant for meals or assistance.
Mahajarama does not undergo drastic personal development within the short, self-contained episodes of Beast+ itself, as his transformation from villain to ally is completed in the previous series, Stream and Beast. By the time of Beast+, his reformed status is well-established. He serves as a pillar of the community, a testament to the series' theme of redemption and the ability to find a new purpose.
Regarding notable abilities, Mahajarama possesses no supernatural powers of his own, but he is exceptionally skilled in several fields. His primary ability is his mastery of curry making, a craft that has won him worldwide fame and allowed him to run a successful restaurant chain. As a former villain and strategic thinker, he is also knowledgeable about net society and past criminal plots. As the operator of MagicMan.EXE, he is also a capable NetNavi operator, though his Net-battling days are largely behind him by the time of Beast+.
