Description
Kenji Shiraishi is a central character in the soccer anime Aoki Densetsu Shoot! and a first-year student at Kakegawa High School. He wears jersey number 1 and plays as the team's goalkeeper. Alongside his close friends Toshihiko Tanaka and Kazuhiro Hiramatsu, he was known as one-third of the "Kakenishi golden trio," a formidable force during their time at Kakenishi Junior High School.

Despite his history of success, Shiraishi had given up playing soccer by the time he entered high school. This decision stemmed from a specific incident in junior high when his short temper led to his involvement in a gang fight, which resulted in his team being disqualified from an important tournament. Feeling responsible for this failure, he stepped away from the sport. However, his deep love for soccer and the encouragement of his friends eventually convince him to rejoin the team at Kakegawa High, where he is reunited with Toshi and Kazuhiro.

Shiraishi has a notoriously hot-headed and combative personality. He is quick to pick fights, a trait that becomes immediately apparent with the arrival of Keigo Mahori, a Brazilian-Japanese transfer student. The two frequently clash, showcasing Shiraishi's aggressive and confrontational nature. Despite this fiery exterior, his actions are ultimately driven by a powerful passion for soccer and a fierce loyalty to his teammates.

Standing at 174 centimeters tall and weighing 63 kilograms, Shiraishi relies more on agility, instinct, and explosive power than on sheer size. He possesses a natural and outstanding sense for reading the trajectory of the ball, allowing him to anticipate shots effectively. His most notable ability is a spectacular technique he develops as the series progresses: the Moon Salto Save. This acrobatic maneuver involves him performing a salto, or flip, to make seemingly impossible saves. The move proves to be a critical defensive weapon for Kakegawa, as he successfully uses it to stop powerful shots, including the Wolf Shoot from the skilled player Rudy or Willy Reinhart. In a demonstration of its potency, Shiraishi is even able to use the Moon Salto Save to block the Golden Shoot performed by his own friend and star striker, Toshihiko Tanaka, during a private training session.

Shiraishi's role in the story is integral as the last line of defense. His journey is one of redemption, moving from a place of guilt and self-imposed exile from the sport back to embracing his identity as a world-class goalkeeper. His development is marked by the refinement of the Moon Salto Save and his maturation into a reliable and impenetrable guardian of the goal, earning him the reputation of making Kakegawa's net virtually unbreakable. His key relationships are primarily with his two best friends from the golden trio, Toshi and Kazuhiro, who form the team's core, as well as his rivalry-turned-camaraderie with the fiery Mahori.
