TV-Series
Description
Bibi Harukaze is the younger sister of the series' protagonist, Doremi Harukaze. She is a girl with fair skin and distinctive red-pink eyes. Her shoulder-length pink hair is styled with two wing-like buns secured by scrunchies, accompanied by side-swept bangs. Her outfit typically consists of a lavender or sky-blue blouse paired with a wine-colored skirt. As a witch apprentice, her uniform incorporates red tones, and she possesses a red, clover-shaped crystal ball. Her birthday is on September 9th.
From a young age, Bibi demonstrates a personality that is notably mature and intelligent for her years, which often leads to her being more capable than her older sister in many areas. She possesses a sharp wit and a confident demeanor, frequently teasing Doremi about her academic struggles and lack of a romantic life. Despite this seemingly superior attitude, her behavior is rooted in a complex mix of genuine affection and a hint of childhood jealousy, particularly regarding their mother's decision to teach piano only to Doremi. Underneath her composed exterior, Bibi still harbors childlike traits; she falls asleep very early, which often causes her to miss late-night events, and she firmly believes in Santa Claus.
Bibi becomes a witch apprentice after accidentally discovering Doremi and her friends using magic at the MAHO-Do shop. To protect the secret of magic, the witch Majo Rika offers Bibi an apprenticeship. While she is naturally gifted and learns magical techniques much faster than her sister, her deep sleep habit presents a major obstacle, as she frequently oversleeps and misses the nighttime witch exams. Despite this setback, she proves her skills during a critical incident involving a magical milk wave, successfully earning her place as an apprentice alongside her fairy partner, Fafa.
Within the group, Bibi takes on a unique role that differs from the other apprentices. Instead of acting as a maternal figure, she becomes a "big sister" to the magical baby Hana. She shows great talent in managing the MAHO-Do shop, often outselling the older girls with her persuasive charm and business sense. Her natural abilities also extend to playing the trumpet, which is reflected in her magical instrument. Throughout the series, Bibi forms a close friendship with Onpu Segawa, as they share very similar personalities.
Bibi's character arc involves a gradual softening of her initially harsh attitude toward her sister. Their relationship evolves from one-sided rivalry into a collaborative and protective sibling bond. She learns to accept her own childish imperfections rather than striving for relentless perfectionism, eventually recognizing the shared traits she has with Doremi and valuing their connection as sisters. By the end of the series, Bibi faces a significant choice regarding her future: to become a full-fledged witch, which would grant her longevity but separate her from her human family, or to remain human. This unresolved decision highlights her journey toward self-determination beyond simply following in her sister's footsteps.
