TV-Series
Description
Emily, known as Hazuki Fujiwara in the original Japanese version, is a central character in the Ojamajo Doremi series. She is introduced as the oldest and best friend of the protagonist, Doremi Harukaze, and the two are classmates at Misora Elementary School. Emily comes from a wealthy and affluent family, which contributes to her well-mannered and refined demeanor. She is portrayed as a gentle, kind-hearted, and highly intelligent girl, consistently ranking as the top student in her class. Despite her composed exterior, Emily possesses a shy and passive personality; she often struggles to assert her own opinions and desires for fear of upsetting others, particularly her mother. This reluctance to express herself is one of her greatest personal challenges. She also has a notable fear of ghosts and a fondness for lame jokes, which adds a layer of charm to her otherwise proper character.

Emily's role in the story is established early on when she, along with her friend Sophie, discovers Doremi's secret magical apprenticeship. To support Doremi, Emily chooses to become a witch apprentice herself, joining the group of Ojamajo. Her primary motivation throughout the series is not personal glory but a deep-seated loyalty to her friends and a desire to help others. She often acts as a calming and logical voice within the group, balancing Doremi's impulsiveness and Sophie's fiery nature. A significant part of her personal journey involves her love for music, specifically playing the violin. Her talent for the instrument and music composition is a key aspect of her identity, and she aspires to become a professional violinist, with her dream culminating in a decision to attend a prestigious music-oriented high school.

As the series progresses, Emily undergoes notable development by learning to become more assertive and express her true feelings. Her key relationship with her mother is a frequent source of conflict, as Emily often suppresses her own wishes to comply with her mother's expectations. Overcoming this internal struggle is a major milestone in her character arc. Her relationships with the other witch apprentices are equally important; she shares a particularly strong and enduring bond with Doremi, acting as a steadfast supporter and best friend. She also maintains a close friendship with Sophie, and together with Doremi, they form the original core trio of witches. Later, she embraces new members like Nicole, Momoko, and the young witch Hana-chan into the group.

As a witch apprentice, Emily possesses notable magical abilities. Her theme color is yellow or orange, reflected in her apprentice outfit and magical accessories. To perform magic, she uses a specific spell: Paipai Ponpoi Puwapuwa Puu. She is later capable of performing a more advanced Magical Stage, using the incantation Paipai Ponpoi, flexible. Emily is also accompanied by a fairy partner named Mimi (or ReRe in the Japanese version), who assists her in her magical duties.
