Description
Mehitaka Pore is a Nodos, a being bonded with a powerful entity from the heroic tribe, who serves the Silver Tribe. Hailing from the planet Pore, he is a member of the Cernean people, a race that holds a deep-seated cultural taboo against the act of killing. This background is fundamental to his character, as it creates a profound internal conflict between his nature and the duties forced upon him.

In terms of personality, Mehitaka possesses immense strength but is notably gentle and weak-willed, often appearing reluctant and even cowardly. Despite being responsible for the destruction of many planets in the past, a consequence of his contract with the Silver Tribe, he has come to despise fighting and deeply hates to see others harmed. This aversion extends to his diet, as he refuses to consume anything that possesses life, instead sustaining himself by eating raw, non-living matter such as metal. He is openly fearful of his own power, Artemia, and the ruthless destruction it is capable of unleashing.

Mehitaka is bound to the Silver Tribe by a contract containing three specific labors. These labors dictate that his own tribe will prosper as long as he follows the Silver Tribe, that he must serve them until his strength is exhausted, and that he is obligated to aid other Nodos of the Silver Tribe when they are in danger. His primary motivation throughout much of the story is not conquest or victory, but the desire to protect a woman named Lecty, for whom he harbors deep feelings. It is his concern for her suffering that often pushes him into battle, as he would rather fight himself than see her get hurt.

Within the narrative, Mehitaka initially acts as an antagonist, using the Argonaut as a shield and attempting to block its path. However, after being defeated by Age's Nodos, Bellcross, his dynamic changes completely. Having exhausted his strength in that battle, he fulfills the second labor of his contract and is freed from his obligation to serve the Silver Tribe. He takes refuge aboard the Argonaut, where he begins to interact with and understand the Iron Tribe. It is during this time, particularly after being moved by Princess Dhianeila's words, that he makes a conscious decision to fight of his own free will, not because he is forced to, but to help her and Age bring about a peaceful resolution.

His key relationships are central to his development. His bond with Lecty is a significant driving force, with mutual feelings existing between them. After joining the Argonaut's crew, he forms a friendly bond with the Tail and Mail sisters, who are moved to tears by his emotional breakdown when Age tells him he no longer has to fight. This moment marks a turning point, as he transitions from a timid fighter who tries to avoid combat by moving slowly in a cloaked state to a more active and engaged participant who chases enemies and uses his speed offensively.

Mehitaka's notable abilities are channeled through his heroic tribe form, Artemia. Thought to represent light, his true power is later revealed to be the manipulation of waves. In his base form, known as Artemia, he can fire massive energy beams capable of engulfing and destroying entire planets. He possesses the ability to turn his body into energy, allowing him to phase through or refract energy-based attacks, although this makes him vulnerable to gravity-based weapons. When pushed into a difficult battle, Mehitaka can enter a berserker state called Madness, where his physical capabilities are greatly enhanced, but he loses control and becomes unable to distinguish friend from foe. He also possesses an ability called Fluctuation, which allows him to absorb the attacks of his opponents. Furthermore, as a member of the heroic tribe, Artemia is considered the fastest of the Nodos, with propulsion organs existing all over his body, not just on his back. The power of Artemia's attacks is also said to have no upper limit, growing stronger the longer energy is allowed to accumulate.
