Description
Eliade is a character from the manga and anime series D.Gray-man. She appears as a young woman with blond hair, typically styled in twintails, and brown eyes. Her human form stands approximately 170 centimeters tall, and she is often seen wearing an elegant dark blue sleeveless dress with a matching small hat. This attractive appearance is central to her identity, as she is deeply vain and obsessed with beauty, shopping, and self-decoration. She enjoys the attention and admiration of human men, yet she harbors a profound hatred for her true nature because her transformation into her original form makes her feel ugly.

Beneath this beautiful exterior, Eliade is a Level 2 Akuma, a mechanical weapon born from a human soul summoned by the Millennium Earl. Her existence is the result of a tragic process: a grieving person called upon a deceased loved one, and the Earl transformed that soul into an Akuma, forcing it to kill the one who called it. However, Eliade is an unusual case. Most Akuma are mindless killers that obey the Earl's commands, but Eliade developed a strong sense of self and a human-like ego over time. While she continued to kill, she became conflicted, feeling embarrassed by her own instincts and deeply desiring something she believed was impossible for her kind: to fall in love.

Her primary role in the story is as the main antagonist of the "Vampire of the Old Castle" arc. The Millennium Earl dispatches her to investigate a secluded European castle where a man believed to be a vampire, Arystar Krory, resides. The Earl suspects Krory has come into contact with General Cross Marian and might be an Exorcist. Upon arriving, instead of killing Krory, Eliade is drawn to him. Krory, who is under the influence of a parasitic Innocence that forces him to crave blood, attacks her and drinks her blood. Surprisingly, because she is an Akuma, she survives. Seeing the gentle and regretful side of the man who attacked her, Eliade abandons her mission. She uses her Akuma minions as a food source for him and becomes his lover, living with him in his isolated castle. She becomes intensely protective of him, determined to prevent anyone from taking him away, especially the Exorcists.

The most significant relationship in Eliade's existence is with Arystar Krory. She truly comes to love him and wishes for a quiet life together. When Allen Walker and Lavi arrive at the castle to investigate the disappearances of villagers, Eliade sees them as a threat to her peaceful life with Krory. She fights fiercely to protect their secret, even trying to kill Allen. Her motivations are driven by a tragic paradox: she wants to experience love and be beautiful, but her Akuma nature and her need to kill ultimately prevent her from ever being truly human.

Throughout the battle, Eliade undergoes a tragic development. When Allen's cursed eye evolves, it reveals the trapped human soul within her, exposing her true Akuma nature to Krory. In a moment of despair, she reverts to her monstrous Akuma form and attacks him, declaring her intent to kill him as she was originally ordered. However, this is a last, desperate act. Her final wish was simply to love someone. In the end, Krory, accepting the painful truth, drinks her blood to restore his own strength, causing her to disappear. Her last thoughts express her unfulfilled desire to love him.

Regarding her abilities, as a Level 2 Akuma, Eliade is far more powerful than basic models. Like all Akuma, she can assume a human disguise and her blood carries the Akuma virus, which can infect and destroy other beings. In her true form, she is a large, serpentine, purple creature. Her signature special ability is the power to generate swarms of bubbles that absorb all the moisture from anything they touch, rapidly dehydrating and weakening her opponents. She uses this power effectively in her final battle against Krory.
