Description
Fou is the guardian deity of the Black Order's Asian Branch, a unique entity rather than a human being. She was created by the great-grandfather of Bak, the branch's current leader, and her existence is intrinsically linked to protecting the organization's Asian headquarters and its inhabitants. Though not human, Fou primarily takes on a humanoid form, appearing as a young woman with short, reddish-pink hair, purple clothing, and distinctive geometric teal markings on her forehead and body. In this form, she stands at approximately 145 centimeters tall, and her hands are notably mitten-like appendages that she can transform into weapons such as large axes or blades.
In terms of personality, Fou presents a tough, hot-headed, and straight-forward exterior. She is known to yell frequently, has little patience, and often speaks in a blunt or abrasive manner. She enjoys teasing and occasionally beating up her closest friend, Bak, whom she nicknames "Baka-Baku" or idiot. This harsh demeanor, however, serves as a cover for a deeply caring and protective nature. Despite her rough attitude, she is a very caring individual who is willing to give her life for those she loves and cannot stand to see others in pain or crying. She often hides her compassionate side, once disguising herself as another person named Lou Fa to have a kind and encouraging conversation with Allen Walker without revealing her true identity.
Fou's primary motivation is the protection of the Asian Branch, its leader Bak, and its members. She has served as the Branch's guardian for over a century, maintaining a powerful barrier for which she herself serves as the physical entrance. Her role in the story becomes prominent when she discovers the exorcist Allen Walker after he was defeated by the Noah, Tyki Mikk. She brings the injured Allen to the Asian Branch to recover. After it is discovered that Allen's Innocence has been reduced to particles, Fou takes on the crucial role of his trainer, using relentless, merciless attacks in a "tough-love" approach to help him re-activate his anti-Akuma weapon. When a powerful Level 3 Akuma invades the headquarters, Fou demonstrates her dedication by transforming into an exact copy of Allen to act as a decoy, buying him precious time and knowingly sacrificing herself in a battle she likely could not win. She is severely wounded but ultimately saved when Allen recovers his power and defeats the Akuma.
Her most significant relationship is with Bak, the branch chief. Despite constantly calling him an idiot and tormenting him, she shares a very strong bond with him that has developed over many years. Her final thoughts before facing the Level 3 Akuma were a quiet "Bye bye, Bak," showing her true feelings. She is also fiercely protective of Allen, with whom she develops a unique bond as friends and mentor during his training. A notable event in her past involves the Second Exorcist Program. When the experimental subject Alma Karma went on a rampage, Fou was ordered by the then Branch Chief not to interfere. She was forced to watch as all personnel involved were killed, after which she arranged the bodies of the chief and her husband so they were holding hands, though she considered them all fools.
Fou possesses several notable abilities stemming from her nature as a crystalline guardian deity. Her primary power is body manipulation, allowing her to transform parts of her body into different objects, usually weapons like blades or axes, or to change her entire appearance to perfectly mimic someone else. She can communicate telepathically with others and use the deity symbols within the Asian headquarters for remote viewing. As the guardian, she is the keystone of the powerful barrier that protects the Asian Branch. She is also an expert combatant, possessing superhuman strength, speed, and durability, and can even hold her own against a member of the Noah family for a short time. Her development throughout the story shows her unwavering commitment to her role as a protector, and she serves as a key figure in helping Allen Walker overcome one of his greatest crises, pushing him to stand and fight even when all hope seemed lost.
