Description
Chie Harada is a secondary character who appears as a student at Fuuka Academy. She is a classmate of the protagonist Mai Tokiha, sitting directly behind her, and is also in the same class as Yuuichi Tate. On Mai’s first day at school, Chie is among the first to offer her friendship, introducing herself in a playful manner by poking Mai’s sides.

Chie has a distinctly curious and sociable personality, with a strong inclination toward gathering information. Her most notable habit is the frequent use of her cell phone’s camera, which she employs to conduct interviews and search for new gossip around the school. This behavior develops into a running gag that defines much of her screen time, as she is consistently portrayed as the doyenne of school rumors. She often appears alongside her close friend, Aoi Senou, with whom she forms a comedic duo. In an omake segment, the two appear in super deformed forms to provide a humorous rundown of their classmates.

Throughout the story, Chie’s role is that of a supportive background figure and a friend to the main cast. As the HiME festival progresses and the situation at the academy becomes increasingly dangerous, the students are eventually dismissed. Chie and Aoi are seen leaving by train, reluctantly saying farewell to Mai, who insists on staying behind to handle matters herself. In the resolution of the series, they return and are last seen at a picnic with the resurrected HiME.

Chie’s key relationships center on her friendship with Aoi Senou, as the two are almost always seen together, and her friendly, if somewhat nosy, rapport with Mai and other classmates. She has no known romantic attachments or significant conflicts within the narrative of My-HiME.

Her character development is relatively static within this series, as she remains a consistent source of comic relief and everyday school life perspective without undergoing major personal changes. Her primary function is to provide a contrast to the more dramatic and action-oriented elements of the plot. In terms of notable abilities, Chie possesses no special powers or combat skills; her strengths lie in her social acumen, her ability to befriend others quickly, and her talent for uncovering secrets and information around the school.
