Description
Father Tres Iques, also known by the designation HC-IIIX and the codename Gunslinger, is a central figure in the Vatican's AX agency. His existence is a unique fusion of organic and mechanical components, making him a highly advanced battle cyborg rather than a simple robot or a purely organic human. He is the last known operational unit of ten "Killing Doll" mechanical soldiers created by the Vatican scientist Professor Gepetto Garibaldi.

The origin of Father Tres Iques is rooted in a failed rebellion. Professor Garibaldi, utilizing technology far beyond the era's standard mechanized infantry, created the HC series to be the perfect soldiers. However, the project was deemed too controversial, leading the professor to seize the Holy Angel Castle in an attempt to prove his theory's validity. During the subsequent suppression led by the AX agent Abel Nightroad, all nine other Killing Doll units were destroyed. Tres Iques, designated HC-IIIX, was the sole survivor, though he was left in a severely damaged state. Instead of being decommissioned, he was recruited by Cardinal Caterina Sforza, who offered him a new purpose as her property and agent, a role he accepted with absolute devotion.

Personality-wise, Tres Iques is defined by his machine-like, unemotional demeanor. He communicates with a crisp, mechanical efficiency, using terms like "affirmative," "negative," and "insufficient data" instead of conventional speech. He frequently refers to himself as a machine, not a human, and claims to lack a soul. His actions are dictated by logic and mission parameters, and he follows orders with relentless precision, often showing inflexibility when faced with unexpected variables. However, beneath this cold exterior, there are subtle indications of retained human emotions, termed the "Human Factor." He has shown flashes of concern for his comrades, such as asking for a "damage report" as a way of inquiring about their well-being, and has even demonstrated annoyance, a sense of humor, and a fierce protectiveness that borders on rage when Cardinal Sforza's memory or honor is insulted.

His primary motivation is his absolute and unwavering loyalty to Cardinal Caterina Sforza, who gave him a reason to exist after his near-destruction. He views himself as her property, her "hound," and her safety is his highest priority. This devotion often makes him anxious when missions take him away from Rome, as half of him is always "home" guarding her. Within the AX agency, his primary partner is Abel Nightroad. Despite Abel's true nature as a Crusnik, a vampire's natural predator, Tres treats him as a comrade. Their relationship is built on mutual reliability in combat, and Tres has even risked his own existence to buy Abel time in a critical fight.

In the story, Father Tres Iques serves as one of the most dependable and powerful assets of AX. He is frequently dispatched on critical missions requiring surgical precision and overwhelming firepower. His role is often that of an enforcer, a guardian for Cardinal Sforza, and a field partner for Abel Nightroad. His reputation as the "Gunslinger" is well-earned, as he can single-handedly dominate a battlefield against even the monstrous Methuselah, or vampires. Over the course of the narrative, while he does not undergo a dramatic emotional transformation, his development is shown through his growing, if still mechanical, integration with his human colleagues. He evolves from a pure weapon of war into a trusted, if highly unusual, friend and ally, especially to Abel and Caterina. In the novels, when the AX agency is dissolved, his loyalty remains with Caterina, and he follows her into the Rosenkreuz Orden.

Notable abilities make Father Tres Iques an extraordinarily formidable combatant. His cyborg body, which requires vitamins to maintain its organic parts, grants him superhuman speed, strength, and endurance, as he does not feel fatigue or pain in the way a human does. His primary weapons are a pair of modified large-caliber pistols, such as the Beretta 92s or the Jericho M13 "Dies Irae," which he wields with impossible speed and accuracy in a style that has been compared to "Gun Fu". He can calculate bullet trajectories with computer-like precision, allowing him to perform impossible ricochet shots that can bounce multiple times to hit a target. His body can also be equipped with additional weaponry, such as arm-mounted cannons or flamethrowers, depending on the mission. He possesses a tactical computer in his spine that allows him to analyze situations, establish optimal battle scenarios, and react in fractions of a second. His eyes can even turn red when he has locked onto a target.
