Description
León García de Asturias is a Terran priest and a field agent of the Vatican Ministry of Holy Affairs, operating under the code name Dandelion. Prior to his clerical service, he was a decorated professional soldier from the southern region of Hispania, noted for his brash and bold demeanor. His past was shattered when he was convicted of the murder of his wife and thirty clergymen, a crime that earned him a thousand‑year prison sentence. While incarcerated in a Roman prison, he began working as a temporary operative for the AX division in exchange for sentence reduction and, more importantly, for help in treating his ailing daughter. He carries a pendant with a picture of his daughter at all times, though her current status remains unknown.
Personality-wise, León presents a gruff, irritable exterior, often taking great offense at being called an old man. He speaks bluntly and can seem dismissive, especially toward colleagues like the clumsy priest Abel Nightroad. Despite this rough demeanor, he displays genuine care for others, particularly children, and his loyalty to Cardinal Caterina Sforza stems from his desperate hope to save his only child. His motivations are deeply personal: he is driven by paternal love and a desire for redemption, though he rarely shows vulnerability.
In the story, León serves as a capable but reluctant ally to the AX team, frequently called upon for dangerous missions due to his combat expertise. He fights using sharp throwing discs and a powerful bazooka, relying on his military training rather than supernatural abilities. He maintains a respectful yet gruff rapport with fellow agent Tres Iqus, whom he nicknames the gunman, and alternately teases or tolerates Abel’s bumbling nature. His development centers on reconciling his violent past with his current role as a priest, and he occasionally exhibits a protective streak that contrasts with his cynical talk.
Notable abilities include his proficiency in heavy weaponry and thrown weapons, as well as his tactical experience from his years as a soldier. He possesses no superhuman powers, relying instead on raw strength and practical knowledge. While his past crime remains a heavy burden, his ongoing service to the Vatican offers him a chance at gradual atonement.
