Description
Chris Wester is a character from the anime Geisters - Fractions of the Earth. She serves as a member of the Geisters, an anti-creature special unit operating directly under the Yuno family. Her rank is lieutenant, which gives her the highest status among the unit's members.
Chris comes from a prominent background as the daughter of Norman Wester and Katrina Wester, the head of the Wester family, one of the seven noble houses of De Beers. Despite her noble lineage, she does not rely on her status or act entitled. Her combat skills are outstanding, and she possesses a sharp intellect.
Chris Wester has a cool and strong personality. She does not look down on or discriminate against others because of her noble birth and treats everyone without fault. Unlike some of her comrades, she treats Shai, who comes from Shiol, without discrimination. She is known for taking good care of the people around her, which makes her very popular and inspires loyalty, particularly from the soldiers of the Wester family who are deeply devoted to her.
Her primary motivation stems from a personal tragedy in her past. Chris had an older brother named Lareth Wester. He had a gentle personality, was more interested in flowers and plants than weapons, and dreamed of restoring plant species from the old world. On Chris’s sixteenth birthday, Lareth volunteered for the military to revive the Wester family's standing. He died in an accident during military training. Following this incident, Chris cut off her long blonde hair and became a soldier herself to inherit her brother's will and protect the Wester family. This event became a deep-seated trauma for her. When she suffered side effects from a biosuit test, she nearly died after experiencing hallucinations of her brother while piloting a fighter jet.
In the story, Chris plays a crucial role when two of her comrades, Dean and Shai, are tortured and imprisoned after Shai is framed for murder. Realizing she cannot save them as a soldier belonging to the Sarakia family, Chris is discharged from the Geisters. She then mobilizes the soldiers of the Wester family to rescue the two and help them escape to Shiol. Later, she inherits the position of head of the Wester family and attends the council of elders to prove Shai's innocence. When several noble families stage a coup, Chris mobilizes all of the Wester family's forces to fight them, though the Wester Tower is severely damaged in the battle. After De Beers is recaptured, she supports post-war recovery efforts, willingly opening the family tower to citizens who need shelter, much to her father's displeasure.
Chris has a key relationship with Victor, for whom she appears to have had feelings for some time. She struggles watching him suffer from the loss of a past lover. After the events of the story conclude, she is eventually connected with Victor.
Her development shows a strong-willed young woman who carries internal trauma about her brother while striving not to run away from her responsibilities, particularly for those who depend on her. Her notable abilities include high-level combat prowess, natural intelligence, and leadership skills befitting her rank and noble status.
