Raishinishi, also romanized as Raishinshi, is a recurring character in the anime Soul Hunter and a disciple of the Kun Lun immortals, known in the story as a doshi, a trainee in the ways of the sennin. He is the adopted hundredth son of Ki Shou, a member of the royal household of the Yin dynasty, and this origin shapes much of his personal story.

As an infant, Raishinishi was saved by Ki Shou and taken into the family as his hundredth child. He was born with only a single immortal bone, a sign of limited innate spiritual potential, and was eventually placed under the care of Unchuushi, an eccentric sennin of Kun Lun. Unchuushi subjected him to a series of harsh experiments and modifications that permanently changed his body. His skin darkened, and a pair of wing-shaped sacred weapons, or paope, called Tensouyoku grew from his back, granting him power over wind and lightning. Using this new strength, Raishinishi escaped his master's painful experiments. He initially intended to return to his father, but he was so troubled by his altered appearance that he instead remained in the human world, where he gained a reputation as a thief who stole to help ordinary people. During that period he encountered Taikobo and lost a fight to him, a defeat that convinced him to disband his band of thieves and return to Kun Lun for further training. He later joined the campaign to overthrow the corrupt Yin dynasty as part of the forces supporting the Zhou revolution.

In terms of personality, Raishinishi is portrayed as an impulsive and hot-tempered young man, and much of his screen presence serves as comic relief in contrast to the more calculating Taikobo. He reacts quickly and emotionally, and his pride often gets the better of him. Beneath that brashness, he is shown to be caring, particularly toward ordinary people and toward his adoptive father. His reluctance to reveal himself to Ki Shou reflects a deep insecurity about his monstrous form and a fear of being rejected because of it.

His central motivation is his bond with Ki Shou. In the anime, this relationship is given particular weight, and the two are eventually reunited, a development that does not occur in the original manga, in which Ki Shou dies before they can meet. Raishinishi's desire to stand beside his father and to protect others drives him to endure further painful modifications to his wings and to fight in the conflict against the Yin court and the forces of the sorceress Dakki.

Within the story, Raishinishi is one of the more prominent members of the supporting cast, with a larger role in the anime than in the manga, where his presence gradually diminishes. He fights alongside Taikobo and the other Kun Lun allies during the revolutionary war, using his aerial mobility to support the group in battle. Because he spends much of the story having his wings remodeled, first to increase their power and later to be upgraded into three pairs of wings, his participation is uneven and he has comparatively less screen time in some stretches, though his appearances become more frequent as the story approaches its final battle.

His notable abilities are tied to the Tensouyoku, the wing-shaped paope fused to his back, which grants him flight and control over wind and lightning. The modifications made by Unchuushi are the source of both his powers and his unusual appearance, including his darkened skin. As a trained doshi of Kun Lun, he also possesses general combat skill and knowledge of the spiritual arts of the sennin world. His development over the course of the anime moves him from a runaway ashamed of his own body, to a thief living on the edges of society, to a disciplined warrior who reconciles with his father and plays a meaningful part in the war to end the Yin dynasty.
