Description
Mikan Kurenai is a young orphaned girl who comes from a family of balloon makers. After her parents were killed by a Senshi working under Tenma Ganzo, she was rescued and taken in by Touka Kurenai, one of the Ten Heavenly Enlightened. For several years, Mikan lived and worked at Touka's establishment known as the Peach Blossom Tower, where she was surrounded by other dispossessed girls. During this time, she harbored a deep desire for revenge against the man who murdered her parents.
Her life changes when she encounters Rushuna Tendo and Yajiro Kojima, who visit the Peach Blossom Tower. The man responsible for her parents' death also appears, causing trouble. Rushuna intervenes and stops him without killing him, and in doing so helps Mikan see beyond her need for revenge. When Mikan later has the chance to kill Ganzo herself, she finds herself unable to do so. This pivotal moment marks a turning point in her character. She decides to leave Touka and join Rushuna and Yajiro on their journey, claiming she wants to keep an eye on them.
Mikan is a master balloon artist despite her young age, having inherited the skill from her father. She can create balloons of all shapes and sizes, which she uses both for practical purposes and as a unique form of combat or support. Her cheerful and energetic personality balances the group, and she proves to be a loyal companion. Throughout her travels, she learns to let go of her past anger and embraces a more peaceful outlook, growing from a revenge-driven child into a friend and ally who contributes to the group's mission. Her key relationships include Touka Kurenai, who gave her a home, and Rushuna, who inspired her to choose a different path.
