Description
Shaka is the Gold Saint who guards the House of Virgo in the Sanctuary of Athena. Born in India on September 19, he stands 1.82 meters tall and weighs 68 kilograms. From a very young age, he demonstrated extraordinary spiritual awareness, receiving teachings from Buddha himself as a child while meditating on the banks of the Ganges River. This profound connection to divinity led him to achieve enlightenment and awaken the Eighth Sense, a feat that earned him the title of the man closest to being a god among all the Saints.

Physically, Shaka is recognizable by his long, straight blonde hair that reaches his knees and his blue eyes, which are almost always kept closed. He wears a bindi on his forehead, a symbol representing his sixth chakra or third eye, signifying his superior vision of the universe's reality. His choice to keep his eyes shut is a deliberate form of austerity, a practice he undertook to seal away and constantly accumulate his immense cosmos, thereby increasing his power to infinite levels. When he opens his eyes, he unleashes this stored energy in its fullest form.

In terms of personality, Shaka is the embodiment of serenity and detachment. He is calm, tranquil, and possesses a wisdom that matches his overwhelming strength. For much of his life, he observed the world from a divine perspective, viewing human suffering with compassion but from a distance, without allowing himself to be emotionally involved. This detachment was his answer to the profound existential questions about life, suffering, and death that troubled him since childhood. His sense of justice is absolute and unwavering; he was loyal to the Pope, believing that as long as justice was served in the end, the identity of the person carrying it out was secondary. This belief explains why, despite sensing a change in the Pope, he did not act against him for thirteen years, as he could not perceive the evil intentions of Saga's malevolent personality.

Shaka's motivations are deeply rooted in his spiritual enlightenment and his duty to Athena. He is not driven by personal glory but by a cosmic sense of balance and righteousness. His primary role in the story is as a formidable guardian. During the Sanctuary arc, he tests the Bronze Saints to their limits. In his pivotal battle against Ikki of Phoenix, he demonstrates the merciless power of a Gold Saint, systematically stripping Ikki of his five senses using his ultimate technique. However, this encounter is transformative for Shaka. His fierce battle with Ikki, who sacrifices himself to achieve the Seventh Sense, forces Shaka to confront his own detachment. He witnesses a human with an unbreakable will and a pure heart, which resolves his doubts about the Bronze Saints and affirms his loyalty to the goddess Athena.

His key relationship is thus with Ikki, the one who made him remember his own humanity. Another crucial relationship is with the trio of fallen Gold Saints: Saga, Shura, and Camus. When these former comrades return from the dead as servants of Hades, Shaka confronts them not as enemies but as fellow warriors. Realizing the immense suffering they endure and that the true enemy is Hades, Shaka orchestrates his own death. He forces them to use the forbidden Athena Exclamation against him, a sacrifice that allows him to follow Athena into the Underworld undetected after awakening the Eighth Sense fully. He eventually joins all twelve Gold Saints in their final sacrifice to destroy the Wailing Wall, opening the path to the Elysian Fields.

Shaka is widely regarded as one of the most powerful characters in the series. His combat style is a blend of overwhelming offense and absolute defense, often using psychic and illusion-based attacks. His notable abilities include his ultimate technique, Tenbu Horin, or Treasure of Heaven, a perfect attack and defense combination that traps an opponent in a mandala and proceeds to rob them of their senses one by one, eventually leaving them as a living corpse. Other powerful techniques include Tenma Kofuku, an attack that unleashes a massive, destructive blast of cosmos, and Rikudo Rinne, which sends the opponent's mind into one of six painful realms of existence based on their karma. For defense, he uses Kaan, a powerful barrier that encircles his body and protects him from harm. His ability to return from any dimension and his mastery of teleportation further cement his status as a being who has transcended normal mortal limitations.
