Description
Argol de Perseo is the Silver Saint of the Perseus constellation in the 20th century, a warrior of significant power who serves as an antagonist to the Bronze Saints. Born on November 11, he is 17 years old, hails from Saudi Arabia, and completed his training in Austria. Standing 188 centimeters tall with a weight of 83 kilograms, he possesses green hair and dark green eyes. His name is derived from Algol, the eclipsing binary star in the Perseus constellation, which is historically associated with the head of the Gorgon Medusa.

Argol is characterized by a strong sense of superiority over Bronze Saints, yet unlike some of his peers, he is notably cautious, intelligent, and a skilled strategist. He does not act impulsively, maintains his composure and serenity in battle, and demonstrates a deep understanding of the mythological history of Perseus and Medusa, which he uses to his advantage. His charisma and leadership qualities are evident, as he appears to hold a leadership role within his group and earns the admiration of Shaina of Ophiuchus and the respect of Aiolia of Leo, a Gold Saint of higher rank. While confident, he also respects worthy adversaries, showing appreciation for the challenge posed by Shiryu of Dragon as a student of Dohko of Libra.

Motivated by his duty to the Sanctuary, Argol is dispatched to Japan as part of a second group of Silver Saints. Their mission evolves from destroying the Galaxian Wars arena to capturing Saori Kido and bringing her before the Pope. He serves as a formidable obstacle for the Bronze Saints as they begin their journey toward the Sanctuary.

In his role in the story, Argol first appears intercepting Seiya of Pegasus, Shiryu of Dragon, and Shun of Andromeda. He demonstrates his power by petrifying Shun and Seiya with his Medusa Shield, forcing Shiryu to be his primary opponent. His confrontation with Shiryu is a central battle where his shield is pitted against Shiryu's Dragon Shield. When Shiryu blinds himself to negate the shield's effect, Argol is ultimately defeated by the Dragon's Rising Dragon Soul. Before dying, he acknowledges Shiryu's courage and sacrifice. In the Hades arc, Argol is resurrected by the god Hades to serve for twelve hours. He is sent with Capella of Auriga and Dante of Cerberus to the Five Peaks of Rozan to attack Dohko and Shiryu, but they are swiftly and easily defeated by Shiryu once again.

Key relationships include his rivalry with Shiryu, which is the most developed. He also has a notable connection to Shun of Andromeda, whom he petrifies first in both the manga and anime, which may be an allusion to the mythological marriage of Perseus and Andromeda. His development is not extensive, but he is portrayed as a more formidable and thoughtful Silver Saint than many others, with his arc culminating in a moment of respect for his opponent's ultimate sacrifice. He is later briefly mentioned in the spin-off Saint Seiya Omega, where Mirfak of Perseus seeks to avenge Argol's defeat by fighting Shiryu's son, Ryuho.

Argol's most notable ability is derived from his Silver Cloth, which is equipped with the Shield of Medusa. Anyone who gazes upon the face of Medusa carved on this shield is instantly turned to stone, a fate that is unavoidable even if the victim closes their eyes or wears a blindfold. Only a powerful defensive shield, such as Shiryu's Dragon Shield, can temporarily block the petrification effect. As a Silver Saint, his physical abilities, including speed and resistance, are far superior to those of standard Bronze Saints. He also possesses an offensive technique known as the Demon Gorgon or Ra's Al Ghûl Gorgoneion, where he summons a spectral Medusa whose serpentine hair restrains the opponent while he delivers a devastating series of kicks.
