Description
Hibari Ginza is a police officer serving with the New Metropolitan Police Department's Special Duty Office in Shinjuku. She is 28 years old and comes from a wealthy upbringing, which contributed to the development of her fiercely independent and often self-centered personality. Excelling both academically and athletically, she attended a prestigious local university before easily passing the national civil service examination. Her primary motivation for joining the police force was the legitimate opportunity to carry and use firearms, a passion stemming from her love of action movies, which also taught her several forms of martial arts.

Despite her professional position, Ginza is an avowed materialist and money-worshipper. She is far more engaged in online stock trading than in her actual police duties, using her law enforcement position to facilitate sizable illegal side income and living a lavish, bubble-era lifestyle in a high-end apartment in Tokyo's Setagaya ward. Her personality is aggressive, violent, and任性 (willful), with a tendency to be凶暴 (ferocious) when she does not get what she wants. She becomes easily fixated on things, including fashion, accessories, and a deep collection of firearms and Italian goods. Her signature catchphrase, often uttered after she shoots or kills someone, is "self-defense".

Ginza's life changes dramatically at age 25 when she encounters the protagonist, Tatsumi Saiga. She is profoundly impacted by his lifestyle, which stands in stark contrast to her own money-driven values, and she becomes obsessed with him. Her role in the story is defined by this obsession; she is a vicious and jealous woman who claims to be in love with Saiga and will go to extreme lengths to protect him from harm, perceived or otherwise. She famously blackmails Saiga into a sexual relationship by stealing his camera, refusing to return it until he complies.

Her key relationships are fraught with jealousy and possessiveness. She is extremely envious of Kagura, the young girl Saiga is determined to protect. This jealousy drives her to make a deal with the antagonist Shinsen to recapture Kagura in exchange for being able to "keep" Saiga for herself. Her relationship with Saiga is one-sided and possessive, though she does provide him with practical support, such as letting him use her car.

Throughout the series, Hibari Ginza undergoes notable development. She falls into depression as others reveal aspects of Saiga's character she did not know and becomes particularly unhinged when Suitengu informs her that she drastically underestimated the value of both Saiga and Kagura to the Tennōzu Group. Eventually, she comes to a difficult realization: she cannot prevent Saiga from loving Kagura. Despite the heartbreak she feels when Saiga confesses his love for Kagura, her pride and a sense of duty compel her to help them. She knocks Kagura unconscious to take her to safety so she can receive necessary treatment, choosing to preserve Kagura's life over her own romantic desires. In the end, it is revealed that Ginza eventually finds happiness with Dr. Ryōgoku.

In terms of abilities, Hibari Ginza is a highly capable combatant and a self-described gun enthusiast. Her practical skills include精通した格闘技 (mastery of several martial arts) and expert marksmanship, allowing her to handle herself in violent situations. She is also a competent police investigator, though her personal obsessions often override her professional duties.
