Description
Ochiaï, whose full name is Seiji Ochiai, is a supporting character in the anime Speed Grapher. He is an adult man with gray hair cut to ear length and gray eyes, who serves as a politician operating at the intersection of journalism, government, and the secretive elite circles behind Tokyo's wealthy society.
Before entering politics, Ochiai was a photographer. That career left him with a lasting connection to the protagonist, Tatsumi Saiga. Ochiai had known of Saiga from Saiga's time as a photographer, and he reveals this familiarity when the two first meet. Saiga, for his part, had read Ochiai's books and was influenced by them at one point in his life. By the time of the story, Ochiai has risen to become a cabinet member and a member of the House of Councillors.
Ochiai founded and leads the White Eagles, a group whose stated purpose is to bring down both the Prime Minister, Kamiya, and Chouji Suitengu, the director of the Roppongi Club. He also heads a political circle called the Brand Club, and his defining personal obsession is audio: he is an audiophile whose fetish is sound. Within a setting where members of the Roppongi Club can have their secret desires transformed into dangerous powers, this sound-oriented fixation is a notable part of his identity.
