Description
Juzo Togo is a character who appears during the Buddhist Temple Alien mission in Tokyo. He is a 38-year-old former member of the Japan Self-Defense Forces, where he served as a highly capable sniper. Physically, he is described as tall and well-trained, with a lean, muscular build, short black hair kept in a crew cut, and no excess body fat.

Throughout his brief time in the story, Togo exhibits a calm, collected, and highly professional demeanor. He is initially disinterested in the chaotic behavior of the other participants in the Gantz room, refusing to join them in praying. Instead, he focuses on observing his surroundings and listening only to Masaru Kato, whose accurate predictions about the black sphere demonstrate a clear understanding of the situation. Togo is extremely confident in his own abilities, showing no hesitation in using the unfamiliar weaponry to engage and kill alien targets. He even takes a detached, almost clinical pleasure in counting his eliminations. His primary motivation seems to be approaching the mission with tactical logic and efficiency, treating it as a military operation. He accepts Kato's leadership and follows his orders without question, showing a willingness to save his teammates from a tactical position.

During the mission at the Rateiin Temple, Togo quickly establishes his role as the team's sniper. He immediately seeks higher ground to gain a tactical advantage, using an X-Shotgun to snipe the Rowdy Alien from a distance while others fight it up close. He also provides critical support by shooting smaller temple aliens that are threatening his comrades, including saving Kato's life. A key aspect of his character is his refusal to wear the protective Gantz suit, instead opting for plain military-style clothing. His overconfidence ultimately leads to his downfall; he chooses to confront the massive Kannon alien using only regular weapons and his bare hands after his initial shots fail. In a desperate close-quarters struggle, Kannon fires its laser, severing Togo's legs before finishing him with a shot to the head.

Togo does not develop significantly as a character over time due to his death in his first and only mission. His primary relationship is a pragmatic one with Masaru Kato, whom he respects and accepts as the mission commander. He largely ignores other participants, such as Akitoshi Okazaki, showing little interest in social interaction. Regarding abilities, Togo is an exceptional marksman with top-notch military training. He immediately demonstrates an intuitive understanding of the Gantz weaponry, quickly determining the effective range of the X-gun and using it with deadly accuracy. His skills also extend to hand-to-hand combat, as he proves capable of fighting and even grappling with the powerful Kannon alien despite being unarmed and unarmored.
