Description
Ken Hidaka is a member of the assassination team Weiss, which operates under the cover of a flower shop. His background is rooted in professional sports, as he was once a celebrated goalkeeper in the J-League, considered the best at his position. His promising career was destroyed when a close friend and fellow player, Kouichirou Kase, drugged him before an important match, leading to a poor performance and a subsequent ban from the league for alleged match-fixing. Kase later attempted to murder Ken by leaving him to die in a burning building, but Ken was rescued by agents of the secret organization Kritiker. Presumed dead by the world, he was recruited and trained to become an assassin for Weiss, initially motivated by a desire for revenge.

In terms of personality, Ken is characterized by a mix of outward cheerfulness and deep internal conflict. He is athletic, energetic, and has a short temper, often rushing into situations impulsively. Despite his hot-headedness, he is fundamentally kind-hearted, friendly, and pure, with a notable fondness for children, spending his free time coaching a children's soccer team. He possesses a strong moral compass and openly dislikes liars, which makes him distinct from his teammates. He is the only member of Weiss who consistently struggles with the morality of being a killer, and as the story progresses, the guilt of his actions weighs heavily on him.

Ken’s personal history is marked by profound betrayal, most significantly from his former best friend Kase. When Weiss is eventually ordered to eliminate Kase, Ken initially refuses to believe in his friend's treachery. However, he ultimately discovers that Kase was responsible for the drugging and the attempted murder. Enraged and heartbroken, Ken personally kills Kase, an act that haunts him and contributes to his deteriorating mental state. Another pivotal event from his past involves Sister Amamiya, a nun who ran the church where Ken was sent after his mother's death. When Weiss receives a mission to eliminate her for using hypnotism to turn orphans into criminals, Ken is forced to carry out the killing. This act is witnessed by a young boy named Nagi Naoe, who subsequently swears revenge on Weiss and Ken specifically.

Within the group, Ken's most critical relationship is with his teammate Aya Fujimiya (also known as Ran). As the psychological toll of his life as an assassin intensifies, Ken’s hold on his sanity deteriorates. By the events of Verbrechen & Strafe, the first signs of his descent into instability and berserk rage become visible. In the subsequent storyline Gluhen, his condition worsens; he actively seeks out his former teammates to help control his violent impulses, and he begins to cling to Aya as a means to regain self-control. This dependence on Aya becomes a defining aspect of his later development. After a period where he voluntarily ends up in jail to reflect on his life, Ken realizes that his path is with Aya. He eventually retrieves Aya’s katana and follows him to England, where they reform their partnership as part of a new covert unit called Krypton Brand, again taking on roles as florists and assassins.

For combat, Ken uses a pair of steel claws worn on his hands, known as bagh nakh or tiger claws. His athletic background as a professional soccer player grants him exceptional reflexes, agility, and physical prowess in close-quarters fighting.
