Description
Mitsuhide Rōen functions as Prince Zen Wistaria of Clarines' dedicated bodyguard and close aide. Hailing from a minor noble house near Sereg, he received rigorous training in swordsmanship and horsemanship during his youth. Crown Prince Izana introduced him to the thirteen-year-old Zen when Mitsuhide was seventeen, originally intending him for Izana's service before assigning him to Zen. Initial friction between them gradually transformed into profound mutual trust and loyalty.

Standing roughly 180 cm tall with a lean, muscular frame, Mitsuhide possesses greying black hair in the manga and sea blue hair in the anime, paired with hazel or light brown eyes. Several scars mark his body, including a burn on his shoulder. His typical attire consists of formal tunics layered over protective gambeson, accompanied by a longsword. He dons the Knights of the Royal Knight Circle uniform for formal occasions.

Outgoing, honest, and fiercely protective, Mitsuhide often adopts a parental role toward Zen. He maintains a calm, reliable presence but flusters easily when teased by Zen, Kiki, or Obi. Despite his gentlemanly conduct, he remains oblivious to romantic overtures and his own unintentional flirtatiousness, which draws female admirers. His driving motivation is unwavering loyalty to Zen, leading him to reject personal pursuits like marriage to remain perpetually at Zen's side.

His dynamic with fellow aide Kiki Seiran balances professional partnership with unspoken tension. Kiki proposed marriage in manga chapter 92, but Mitsuhide declined, prioritizing his commitment to Zen. They share deep mutual respect and combat synergy, yet Mitsuhide struggles to recognize or act upon deeper emotions. A notable incident occurred in Season 2 Episode 11 (manga chapter 28), where Mitsuhide inhaled a hypnotic potion amplifying his loyalty to extremes and reverting to formal address ("Zen-sama"). Shirayuki administered an antidote, erasing his memories of the hypnotized state.

Mitsuhide's family background remains unexplored, with no known relatives appearing in the series. His origins as a "nameless knight" from Sereg highlight his rise through merit rather than lineage.
