Description
Eduardo "Dudu" Arquero is a recurring character in the Yo-kai Watch franchise, known as Edward "Eddie" Archer in English and Imada Kanchi in Japanese. He is an eleven-year-old student at Springdale Elementary School and a close friend of the protagonist, Nate Adams, as well as their mutual friends Bear Bernstein and Katie Forester.

Physically, Eduardo appears somewhat shorter than Nate and Bear, with unkempt brown hair, high-placed eyebrows, and half-closed, sleepy-looking eyes. His signature outfit consists of a long green jacket with two orange patches on the sleeves, a white collared shirt over a blue undershirt, rolled-up capris, and simple blue shoes with white rims. He is almost always seen wearing orange headphones that match the patches on his jacket.

Eduardo comes from a wealthy family and lives in a large house in an affluent neighborhood, though his parents are frequently absent due to demanding work schedules. This has led to feelings of loneliness, particularly on special occasions such as his birthday, where he often spends time alone or only with friends while missing his parents' presence.

In terms of personality, Eduardo is generally relaxed and easygoing, maintaining a friendly demeanor toward Nate and others. He often displays a neutral facial expression or an slightly awkward smile, and while he can become mildly irritated by other characters, he typically keeps his frustration to himself rather than expressing it outwardly. Katie has suggested that despite his friendly exterior, Eduardo may privately see himself as superior to his peers, though this does not prevent him from being a fundamentally good person. He becomes visibly bothered when Bear is inspirited by a yo-kai and begins acting like a bully, showing genuine concern for his friends. Eduardo also demonstrates a notable interest in girls and romantic pursuits, including hinted crushes on Katie and a classmate named Shelly.

Academically, Eduardo is a much better student than Nate or Bear, consistently earning good grades. He has a strong interest in technology and gadgets, often showcasing his knowledge and devices, including a specialized Mega Watch. This technological proficiency extends to notable abilities, such as disabling security systems, as demonstrated when he single-handedly tampered with and shut down a museum's alarm system. He also has an interest in insects, having collected specimens that he shows to his friends and giving the player a fauna collection application in Yo-kai Watch 2. A recurring trait is his skepticism toward the supernatural; he prefers scientific explanations for unusual events, though his worldview is occasionally challenged by encounters with yo-kai.

Eduardo's role in the story is primarily as a supporting character within Nate's friend group. In the anime, a notable episode focuses on him when he is inspirited by the yo-kai Sandmeh during his birthday party, which reveals his suppressed sadness over his parents' absence. The situation resolves when his parents return home to celebrate with him. In the video games, he participates in several key quests. In Yo-kai Watch, he investigates rumors of possessed samurai armor at the Gourd Pond Museum. In Yo-kai Watch 2, a chapter titled High-Tech Hide and Seek involves tracking down his stolen Mega Watch. In Yo-kai Watch 3, he assists Hailey Anne Thomas's detective agency and joins a team to upgrade Robonyan into Ultimate Robonyan. In the first Yo-kai Watch film, he appears discussing strange happenings in Springdale with his friends, and in the third film, he is seen bargaining with Bear over a rare collectible toy figure.

His key relationships are most strongly defined with Nate, whom he offers advice and teases affectionately, maintaining a very friendly rapport. He appears to have a slightly closer friendship with Bear than with the others, as they are often seen together and both received Mega Watches purchased by Eduardo's father. His relationship with his parents, while cordial, is less explored, though his mother is shown feeling guilty after breaking one of his models and seeking to replace it for him in Yo-kai Watch 3. Throughout the series, Eduardo shows growth in confronting his feelings of loneliness related to his parents' absence, learning to express his emotional needs rather than suppressing them.
