Description
Donoso Camacho, known to his friends by the nickname Oso, which means bear, is a character from the Yo-kai Watch series and a close classmate of Nate, Eddie, and Katie at Springdale Elementary School. His nickname and his original Japanese name, Kumashima Gorōta, both carry associations with bears, which is a playful reference to his large, somewhat intimidating build.

Oso is approximately eleven years old and resides in the town of Springdale. His appearance is designed to create a contrast with his true personality. He has a robust build, spiky black hair, dark rings around his eyes, and a bandage on his cheek, all of which give him a rough or delinquent aura reminiscent of a biker. He typically wears a casual outfit consisting of a blue letterman jacket with white sleeves, a white t-shirt, brown shorts, and sneakers. This thuggish exterior, however, is misleading.

Despite his fierce looks, Oso possesses a gentle and sensitive nature. He is known to be somewhat of a bumbler and a glutton, and he lacks notable athleticism, although he shares a love for playing soccer with his friends Nate and Eddie. One of his most defining traits is his unusual sensitivity; he is prone to bursting into tears easily, which stands in stark contrast to his tough appearance. He can also act as a class prankster, engaging in mischievous behavior.

His relationships are central to his character. He is a loyal member of Nate's friend group and cares deeply for them. A significant and recurring aspect of his background is his fear of his mother, who is a disciplinarian figure in his life. Several of his personal quests and story appearances revolve around her scolding him for various mishaps. His family includes his mother, a father, and a sister.

In the story, Oso serves as a recurring supporting character who often finds himself in need of Nate's help. In the games, he is the focus of several side quests that develop his personality. One early quest involves him asking Nate to retrieve his parents' lost engagement ring from a pond. Another notable scenario occurs when he is accidentally trapped inside an anatomical model by the Yo-kai Rattelle after taking one of her rib bones, requiring his friends to free him. In the sequel, Yo-kai Watch 2, a series of quests titled "Bear Boy - Origins," "The Bear Boy Returns," and "Ultimate Bear Boy" depict Oso's enthusiastic but doomed attempts to become a superhero. He uses different Yo-kai powers to transform, but each attempt ends in failure—falling into a river, colliding with his mother, or getting into a rooftop fight with Eddie—and concludes with him being reprimanded by his mother. Another quest, "Re-Mom-Bear Me," directly involves his mother, where he asks for help to remind her to make dinner, only to discover she was being inspirited by a Yo-kai.

Oso appears across various media, including the animated films. In Yo-kai Watch: The Movie, he is part of the group discussing strange events, and in The Great Adventure of the Flying Whale & the Double World, Nyan!, he appears in a live-action segment where his appearance makes him look like a thirty-year-old man. In an alternate universe story, exposure to the power of the Kuroi Yo-kai Watch transforms him into a powerful Yo-kai named Mukade-otoko. He also has a confirmed crush on a character named Lulu, which is revealed through the influence of a Yo-kai. Interestingly, compared to his friends, Oso seems to be less frequently targeted and inspirited by mischievous Yo-kai.
