Description
The character referred to as Irié is more commonly known as Airi. A crucial point to clarify is that Airi is primarily a character from the video game Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage, serving as an expansion of a character who exists in the original manga and anime but is never given a proper name there.

In the original Fist of the North Star story, Rei searches for his younger sister who was kidnapped by a man with a chest scar. She is initially found in the clutches of the Fang Clan, blind and traumatized. While this unnamed sister is the basis for the character, the name Airi and the details of her background are largely established in Ken's Rage and related adaptations. Her name is a play on the word "air".

Within this expanded backstory, Airi is the younger sister of Rei. Before the apocalyptic world fell into chaos, she was preparing to marry the love of her life. On the day of her wedding ceremony, her life was shattered when the villainous Jagi invaded her home. Jagi murdered her parents, kidnapped Airi, and subsequently sold her into slavery. The horrific abuse she suffered as a slave led her to lose the will to face reality. To cope with her trauma, she deliberately used a medicine to seal her own eyes, rendering herself blind so she would not have to see her suffering.

Airi's role in the story is primarily as the objective of a rescue mission and a key emotional driver for her brother, Rei. Rei has spent years searching for a man with seven scars on his chest, whom he believes took his sister. By the time Rei finally locates her, she is being held captive by the Fang Clan. The Fang King forces Rei and Kenshiro to fight each other, promising to release the women if they comply. After the Fang Clan is defeated, Kenshiro uses his knowledge of pressure points, pressing specific points on Airi's face, to miraculously restore her sight. This act not only heals her eyes but also begins the process of healing her spirit.

In terms of personality, Airi is defined by deep trauma, but also resilience. Initially, she is withdrawn and has given up hope, which is symbolized by her self-inflicted blindness. She dreads her existence and sees no future for herself. However, her character undergoes significant development. Witnessing the bravery of the young girl Lin inspires her to find the courage to live and fight once more. She recovers her will to live, transforming from a passive victim into a survivor who wishes to build a new life.

Her key relationships are central to her identity. Her bond with her brother Rei is the most important, as his entire quest is driven by love for her. Kenshiro is also a pivotal figure, as he is the one who physically and symbolically opens her eyes to the world again. She forms a close bond with Mamiya, a strong warrior who risks her own life in a failed attempt to rescue her, and with the young girl Lin, whose courage serves as her inspiration. After Rei's eventual death from radiation poisoning, Airi survives him and continues to live as a resident in Mamiya's village.

Notable abilities are largely absent for Airi, as she is not a fighter. Her only notable trait in this regard is the medical knowledge she possessed to create the blinding agent to seal her own eyes. Her significance is purely narrative and emotional, representing innocence lost and the possibility of recovery even in the brutal world of the series. Physically, she is depicted as a young adult woman with long pink hair that reaches her waist and green eyes.
