Description
Karin Aoi is the female protagonist of the story, a sixteen-year-old girl sent from an overpopulated future to the present day to prevent a catastrophic population crisis. She holds the occupation of a DNA Operator, a role that requires her to travel through time and use specialized tools to alter the genetic makeup of individuals whose DNA poses a threat to society.
Her mission specifically targets a high school boy named Junta Momonari, who is destined to become the Mega-Playboy at age twenty-one, a man whose uncontrollable charisma would lead him to father one hundred children, each of whom would also have one hundred children. To prevent this, she is armed with DCM bullets, or DNA Control Medicine, which are designed to modify a person’s genetic code. However, a critical error occurs when she uses the wrong bullet, inadvertently awakening the very Mega-Playboy powers she was meant to erase, transforming the previously meek and allergy-ridden Junta.
Personality-wise, Karin is depicted as intelligent, attractive, and physically capable, possessing strong combat skills to aid her in her duties. Despite her professional and often assertive demeanor, she harbors a deeply personal and somewhat traditional set of desires. Away from her job, her primary motivations are the simple, heartfelt dreams of finding a kind husband, owning a cute pet, living in a house with a garden, and creating a loving family. She can become easily absorbed or self-indulgent when discussing these aspirations, though she typically snaps back to reality quickly, aware that these dreams are unfulfilled.
A significant part of Karin’s journey involves her relationships with those in the past, most notably with Junta. Initially, she views him solely as a target for her mission, but as they live and work together to control his new powers, she develops genuine romantic feelings for him. Junta, in contrast to his reactions to other girls, displays a consistent and powerful attraction to Karin that surpasses mere infatuation. Their connection becomes the emotional core of the narrative, forcing Karin into a painful conflict between her growing love and her professional duty to restore the future’s timeline.
Throughout the series, Karin shows significant development, moving from a confident agent focused on her objective to a conflicted young woman grappling with personal sacrifice. Her motivations evolve from simply earning a reward to wanting to protect Junta from the consequences of her mistake. In the story's climax, she demonstrates immense emotional strength and professionalism. Despite her deep love for Junta, she makes the anguished decision to shoot him with the correct DCM bullet. This act not only removes his Mega-Playboy DNA, reverting him to an ordinary boy, but it also erases all of his memories of her. This final, selfless action highlights her growth, as she chooses the future of the world over her own happiness, returning to her own time and leaving behind the person she loves, who will never remember her.
