Description
Lulala Kawasaki is a character from the manga and anime series DNA² whose role and background differ between the two versions. In the original manga, she is the youngest daughter of the Mega‑Playboy, Junta Momonari, and his one hundred and first child. She possesses high psychic abilities and travels back in time from a future timeline to conceive a child with her own father, Junta, in order to counter a son named Jun who should not have been born in the normal course of history. In the anime adaptation, her relationship is shifted: she is Junta’s great‑granddaughter rather than his daughter. She appears in the original video animation as a brainwashed agent of the antagonist Mori, sent to turn Junta and all his descendants into zombie‑like slaves. Her motivations in the anime are initially driven by Mori’s control, but she is later freed from the brainwashing through Karin Aoi’s heartfelt persuasion, after which she tearfully vanishes.
Personality‑wise, Lulala is depicted as a reserved and introspective individual. In both versions, she carries a sense of isolation and detachment, partly because of her unusual origins and mission. She is capable of strong determination when pursuing her goals, but also shows a capacity for empathy and regret once the brainwashing is lifted. Her actions are largely shaped by external forces—either the necessity of preserving her own existence in the manga or the manipulation of Mori in the anime.
Lulala’s key relationships center on Junta and Karin. She is directly tied to Junta through bloodline—as his daughter or great‑granddaughter—and her interactions with him are marked by conflict and eventual resolution. Karin plays a crucial role in breaking the brainwashing in the anime, acting as a catalyst for Lulala’s redemption. Her development moves from being a tool of an antagonist to a character who experiences remorse and acceptance of her fate, whether by disappearing or by having her existence erased.
Notable abilities include powerful psychic powers, which in some descriptions encompass the manipulation of electricity. She uses these abilities in combat and as a means to achieve her objectives. Overall, Lulala Kawasaki serves as a supporting antagonist and a tragic figure whose story underscores the consequences of the DNA‑altering technology at the heart of the series.
