Description
In the 2001 anime film Metropolis, Shunsaku Ban is a private investigator from Japan who travels to the titular futuristic city with his nephew, Kenichi. His mission is to apprehend Dr. Laughton, a scientist wanted for the illegal trafficking of human organs. A portly, middle-aged man of short stature, Ban is immediately recognizable by his bald head and his most distinctive feature, a large, bushy mustache that has earned him the affectionate nickname Higeoyaji, or Old Man Mustache. He favors a classic, old-fashioned detective’s attire, typically a coat and hat reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes.
