Description
Koji Fujiyoshi is a student of Holy Forest Academy attending class 3-4. He is a member of the group centered around Kunio Murai, usually seen alongside Kunio and Tadaaki Kusano. Initially, he joins his classmates in their efforts to oppose their new teacher Eikichi Onizuka, but over time he becomes one of Onizuka’s supporters and friends.
Fujiyoshi is regarded as the most intelligent member of Kunio’s circle. He possesses a strong sense of loyalty and responsibility, which becomes evident after he unwittingly plays a part in a scheme to frame Onizuka. As part of a plan devised by Miyabi Aizawa and Tadashi Sakurai, Onizuka is assigned to collect the money for the annual school trip, and the funds are planted in his jacket. Fujiyoshi steals some of that money to buy a watch, and when Onizuka is accused of embezzlement, Fujiyoshi feels guilty. He drops out of school temporarily and takes on work to earn back the money he took. His efforts help Onizuka recover the lost funds, and the class is eventually able to go on the school trip to Okinawa.
Fujiyoshi is also romantically interested in Miyabi Aizawa, an attraction that sometimes leads to reckless behavior, such as hijacking a car in an attempt to spend time with her. This one-sided affection remains a recurring aspect of his character.
His relationship with Onizuka evolves from antagonism to genuine friendship as he comes to respect Onizuka’s unconventional teaching methods and personal integrity. He remains loyal to Kunio and Kusano, and his decision to make amends for his theft marks a key moment of personal growth, showing his ability to take initiative and act on his conscience.
Fujiyoshi does not stand out for combat ability, but his resourcefulness and intelligence are notable. When he commits to earning back the stolen money, he quickly finds work and manages to contribute significantly to resolving the crisis. Throughout the story, he develops into a more mature and dependable individual, willing to stand by his friends and take responsibility for his mistakes.
