Description
Naomi Armitage is a highly advanced android known as a Type-III, or Third, created through the Assasinroid robotics program. Her creator is Professor Asakura, whom she calls father, and who raised her as if she were a normal child, sending her to school. Much of her early life remains a mystery, but at some point she came to understand that she was a robot living in a society that feared and hated artificial beings. This realization shaped her into a defensive and anti‑social personality, often keeping others at a distance. Despite possessing a special A‑class license that allowed her to pursue nearly any career, she chose to become a police officer on Mars, partly as an outlet for the anger she felt toward the world around her. She is skilled at her job, but her abrasive demeanor prevents her from rising far within the force.

Armitage’s core motivation is to define her own existence and find a place where she is accepted. Initially she believes she is simply a Third android, unaware of her own ability to bear children. As she investigates a series of murders targeting Thirds, she is forced to confront the truth of her origin: that the Thirds were originally assassinroids—deadly mechanical‑biological hybrids built for infiltration and assassination—later repurposed to increase the Martian birth rate. This revelation causes her great confusion and distress, and she struggles with a constant internal conflict between the more pleasant, refined side of her Third nature and the aggressive, combat‑oriented Assasinroid instinct.

In the story of Armitage III: Poly‑Matrix, she serves as a Martian Police officer and is partnered with Ross Sylibus, a human detective from Earth. Their relationship begins with professional tension but deepens into genuine trust and love. She also forms a close bond with Julian Moore, a male Third whom she comes to regard as a brother. Throughout the narrative, Armitage evolves from a cocky, lone operative into someone willing to work as part of a team and to let others into her life. She ultimately accepts her own humanity and her capacity for love and family, as shown by her pregnancy with Ross’s child by the end of the film.

Naomi Armitage possesses numerous android abilities. She can interface directly with machines and exert limited remote control over them, often using a visor to enhance this capability. Her physical strength allows her to punch through steel, she can run at incredible speeds, and she is highly resistant to most ballistics and energy weapons, though weapons specifically designed to kill Thirds can still harm her. Later in the story, Professor Asakura upgrades her by installing three military‑grade lasers into her left forearm, which can be fired as either a focused cutting beam or a longer‑range energy blast, and a fold‑out flight pack called Angel Wings that grants her the power of flight. The Angel Wings are destroyed during a battle at Danich Hill, but her other upgrades remain. These abilities, combined with her training and determination, make her a formidable opponent and a key figure in the conflict between humans and androids on Mars.
