Description
Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing is the leader of the Hellsing Organization, a secret Protestant knightly order dedicated to protecting the United Kingdom from vampires, ghouls, and other supernatural threats. She is the last living descendant of Abraham Van Helsing, the original vampire hunter who defeated Count Dracula. Inheriting her position as a child after the murder of her father, Arthur Hellsing, Integra was forced to grow up quickly, transforming from a kind and innocent girl into a resolute and commanding leader thoroughly devoted to her duty. Her early life was marked by danger, including an assassination attempt by her treacherous uncle Richard, which led her to awaken the vampire Alucard by opening his prison and offering her own blood. This act sealed their master-servant bond and cemented her authority at a young age.

In terms of personality, Integra is often described as a woman of iron, possessing an unshakeable will and immense pride in her humanity despite the dark forces she commands. She maintains a collected and dignified demeanor, rarely allowing emotions to interfere with her work, though she is prone to occasional outbursts of intense anger when her expectations are challenged or when failure is at stake. She is deeply patriotic and devoutly Anglican, placing the protection of the United Kingdom, the Queen, and the Anglican Church above all else. The Hellsing family is on a mission from God, a responsibility she carries with absolute seriousness, tolerating failure in no one, least of all herself.

Her primary motivation is to uphold the legacy of her family and fulfill the organization’s sacred duty. She believes that true strength lies in moral integrity and that only those prepared to be killed should kill. This sense of moral responsibility anchors her leadership and drives her decisions, even in the face of overwhelming darkness. She leads the Hellsing Organization with charisma and an iron fist, inspiring confidence in her subordinates through her calm and commanding presence.

In the story, Integra serves as the central human authority figure and the master of Alucard, the most powerful vampire in existence. She decides when to unleash him and when to hold back, a role that requires strength of character to command his respect. Alongside Alucard, she also commands Seras Victoria, a former police officer turned vampire, whom she mentors and guides in accepting her new nature while retaining her humanity. Integra’s key relationships include her trusted butler Walter C. Dornez, whose eventual betrayal profoundly challenges her worldview and tests her loyalty, and the memory of her father Arthur, whose legacy she honors by preserving the Hellsing line. Through the course of the war against the Nazi remnant organization Millennium, Integra faces not only external enemies but also internal betrayal and the heavy burden of leadership, evolving from a young girl uncertain of her role into a battle-hardened commander who sacrifices personal safety for the greater good.

Integra possesses a range of notable abilities despite being human. She is a master strategist and tactician, capable of directing complex military operations against supernatural foes. She is an expert marksman, proficient with pistols and submachine guns, and a skilled fencer, capable of cutting down ordinary vampires in a single stroke. She also has extensive knowledge of the occult, which is crucial for her work. Above all, her unbreakable will and noble presence allow her to stand firm before terrifying horrors and command authority from both human and supernatural beings. Her human vulnerability, however, reminds her of the constant cost of her role, and her emotional restraint sometimes distances her from those around her. Through her journey, Integra remains a symbol of strength, duty, and unwavering resolve, embodying the harsh and noble burden of leadership in a world of darkness.
