Description
Juubei Kakei is the heir to the Kakei clan, a family that has served the Fuuchouin clan for five hundred years as doctors and bodyguards. This lifelong duty shapes his entire existence, forming a bond with Kazuki Fuuchouin that began in childhood. When the Fuuchouin main clan was attacked and destroyed, Juubei could only ensure Kazuki’s escape, and he swore an oath to become stronger to protect him as they fled to the sprawling, lawless district known as the Infinity Fortress.
Juubei is an impossibly serious and stoic individual. His manner of speaking is formal and archaic, reminiscent of a samurai from feudal Japan, which leads to Ban Mido giving him the nickname samurai boy. This seriousness extends to a profound lack of a sense of humor. He often fails to understand jokes made by others, and his own attempts at levity are notoriously awkward and unsuccessful, often humorously compared to the famously bad jokes of another character, Haruki Emishi. Despite his dour exterior, he is deeply loyal and protective, particularly of his older sister, Sakura Kakei, and most especially of Kazuki.
