Baro Barows is an anthropomorphic wolf beastman with darkish-light blue fur, yellow eyes, a dark red scar across his snout, and a torn ear. He typically wears a brown strapped jacket with a gray shoulder plate, sage-colored baggy pants, and dark brown boots, carrying a dark brown sword featuring a gold and beige handle at his waist.
Originally a drifter, Baro served as bodyguard for the anthropomorphic tiger tradesman Beri Berinal. His assignment to steal belongings from human Kouichi Mizuki and giant prince Caius Lao Bistail escalated into kidnapping Kouichi for ransom in the Country of Beasts. During the abduction, Baro misinterpreted Kouichi’s physiological state—resembling beastman "heat"—and attempted to "control the surge" by licking him, citing cultural practice. He later acknowledged this act as non-consensual, expressing remorse for both the deception and violation.
Threatened with death by Caius as retribution, Baro was spared when Kouichi intervened, pleading no one else should die for him. Witnessing Kouichi’s compassion and his bond with Caius triggered Baro’s flashback referencing gods Karina and Raisa, prompting sincere apologies to both and gratitude to Kouichi for mercy.
Baro vowed reform, attributing past crimes to blind obedience and unemployment. He ceased illegal activities upon becoming Dr. Martu’s assistant in Tildant, where he resides. There, he befriended Kouichi, nicknaming him "Tiny" or "shrimp" due to his size relative to giants; they studied and played basketball together. Baro developed unrequited romantic feelings for Kouichi but respected his committed relationship with Caius, maintaining supportive platonic friendship—demonstrating personal growth from his antagonistic origins.
