Momoko Hanasaki is the central protagonist of the Wedding Peach series, including the OVA sequel Wedding Peach DX. She is a student at Sei Hanazono Junior High School and a member of the school newspaper club, where her interest in photography mirrors that of her father, Shouichirou. Momoko was raised by her father after being told that her mother had died, though she later learns that her mother, Celeste, is actually an angel and the younger sister of the goddess Aphrodite, making Momoko half‑angel and half‑human. Her most treasured possession is a ruby ring inherited from her mother, which later becomes a key component of the Saint Something Four.

Personality‑wise, Momoko is bright, cheerful, and spirited, with a good heart and a tendency toward clumsiness that often leads to amusing situations. She can be emotional and has a quick temper when provoked, but she is fundamentally kind and empathetic. Despite her sometimes naive and clumsy nature, she shows a mature, independent side, particularly in handling household duties in her mother’s absence. Her motivations center on protecting love and the people she cares about from the devils who seek to destroy love waves. As the legendary Love Angel Wedding Peach, she is charged with this mission by Aphrodite after receiving the Saint Miroir compact from the angel Limone.

Throughout the story, Momoko’s role evolves from a typical schoolgirl with a crush on soccer captain Kazuya Yanagiba into a determined defender of love. Her affections shift to Yousuke Fuuma, the soccer team’s goalie, and her relationship with him becomes increasingly central. Their bond proves so strong that in the finale, their love saves the world despite their different natures. Momoko’s key relationships include her best friends and fellow Love Angels Yuri Tanima (Angel Lily) and Hinagiku Tamano (Angel Daisy), as well as the later addition of Scarlet O’Hara (Angel Salvia). Together they form the Love Angel team, and Momoko serves as its de facto leader. Her development is marked by growing confidence in her powers and a deeper understanding of love’s importance.

In terms of abilities, Momoko transforms into Wedding Peach by using the Saint Miroir and calling out “Wedding Beautiful Flower!” In her standard form she wields a bouquet that can become the Saint Operation wand, releasing Love Waves to purify demonic influence. Her initial finishing move is Saint Miroir Bridal Flash, which channels her love wave through the compact. She can also perform a secondary transformation into Fighter Angel Wedding Peach via “Wedding Change Oironaoshi, Angel Amour Peach!”, gaining more combat‑oriented attire and enhanced attacks. Later in the series, she acquires the Saint Something Old talisman, formed from her mother’s ruby ring and a bell from Yousuke’s father, which allows her to use the Saint Crystal and the powerful attack Wedding Yuinou Gaeshi! Saint Crystal Love For You! In Wedding Peach DX, the Love Angels receive further power‑ups, and Momoko can shift directly into her NEO Fighter Angel form in a single transformation sequence. In this form she gains new abilities such as Saint Feather Impulse and the ultimate team attack Saint Grenade Critical, Heart Impact, which combines the Love Waves of all four Love Angels into a concentrated blast. Through these powers, Momoko continually grows from a clumsy girl into a courageous and capable guardian of love.
