Description
Reiha's mother is a spectral figure who appears to her daughter in the television series and manga of Vampire Princess Miyu. She is a yuki-onna, a snow spirit, and had already passed away before the events of the story. Her ghost visits Reiha after the death of Reiha's father, the head of a group of shinma protectors, to reveal Reiha's true nature and to bestow her icy powers upon her. The mother's personality is maternal and guiding; she speaks to Reiha with a calm, cold demeanor, explaining that Reiha is a snow lady and that her abilities will manifest from that point onward. Her primary motivation is to ensure that Reiha understands her heritage and can protect herself, as well as to pass on the legacy of their kind. In the story, her role is limited to a brief but pivotal appearance that unlocks Reiha's latent powers and sets Reiha on her path as a rival to the guardian Miyu. The relationship between mother and daughter is one of legacy and inheritance; Reiha receives her mother's powers and, in some interpretations, her living doll Matsukaze as a protector. There is no further development of the mother as a character beyond this single encounter. Her notable abilities are those of a yuki-onna: control over snow and ice, cold-based attacks, and the capacity to manifest as a ghostly apparition. She is a minor but significant figure in Reiha's backstory.
