Description
Minota is a blue cow plushie who serves as the constant companion and best friend of Zeushi-kun, the meat-loving prince of Nikuniku Land. He originates from the same cloud kingdom and accompanies Zeushi-kun when the prince runs away to the human world, where they end up staying with the Miito family. Minota’s name is derived from Minotauros, the legendary half-man, half-bull creature, which ties into his bovine appearance and his role as a loyal sidekick.
In terms of personality, Minota is mostly silent and communicates only through the sound “Moo,” which is how other characters perceive his speech. Despite this limited vocalization, he occasionally displays surprisingly high intelligence and perceptiveness, hinting at a deeper understanding of the situations around him. He shares Zeushi-kun’s deep love for domestic meat, but because he is a plushie, he cannot actually eat it, which adds a gentle irony to his character. His primary motivation is to support Zeushi-kun in their mission to discover and promote delicious Japanese meat products, and he is always by the prince’s side during their adventures.
Within the story, Minota functions as Zeushi-kun’s closest ally and a key member of the group that explores the joys of domestic meat alongside the Miito family. He is also responsible for the show’s title call, often announcing the series name at the beginning of episodes. His relationship with Zeushi-kun is one of unwavering friendship; the two think about meat every day and share a relaxed, easygoing bond. He also interacts with Mika Miito and her family, though his silent nature means these interactions are largely non-verbal.
Over the course of the series, which includes the first television season, a second season released online, and a special episode, Minota remains a consistent presence. His development is subtle: he continues to demonstrate moments of cleverness and loyalty, but his core role as the mute, devoted plushie friend does not change drastically. His notable ability is his capacity to convey meaning and emotion through simple mooing, as well as his knack for appearing to understand complex conversations and events, even though others cannot fully interpret his responses. This makes him an endearing and quietly effective character within the lighthearted, educational tone of the anime.
