Description
Hiroshi Ozora is a young, brilliant scientist working for the Zamtech Industry Corporation in the year 2045. He is the inventor of the Mol Unit, a sophisticated device that creates a pocket dimension around its user, granting them superhuman strength, the ability to fly, and near-invulnerability by operating outside normal physical laws. A lean and lanky individual, Hiroshi programs the Mol Unit’s protective barrier to transform his appearance into that of a muscular, idealized superhero. His primary motivation for creating the device is not purely scientific advancement but a strong desire for personal fame and recognition, seeking to become a celebrated hero. He adopts the flamboyant alter ego of Captain Tokyo to achieve this goal.

Hiroshi’s personality is that of a confident, slightly egotistical inventor who is both proud of his creation and eager for the attention it brings. He shares a friendly rivalry with his old mentor, Professor Amagi, bonding over a shared love of 20th-century technology. His plans are complicated by his younger sister, Mirai, who is less impressed with his heroic pretensions. After she discovers the Mol Unit, Mirai playfully modifies its costume design on a computer, unwittingly introducing a critical instability. This instability causes the Mol Unit to randomly switch between Hiroshi’s muscular male design and Mirai’s more feminine and fashionable one. When Hiroshi activates the unit and finds himself trapped in the ill-fitting female version during a battle, he is forced to retreat. Recognizing that Mirai can use the device effectively, he reluctantly cedes the role of the city’s protector to her, guiding her actions via radio link as she becomes the superheroine known as Moldiver.

Throughout the story, Hiroshi’s role shifts from the primary hero to a supporting figure and the technical brains behind the operation. His key relationships are primarily with his family, especially Mirai, whose actions derail his original plans, and with his mentor, who is secretly the villainous Professor Machinegal. He also has a best friend named Kaoru Misaki, an astronaut for whom Mirai has feelings. As the series progresses, Hiroshi must come to terms with sharing his invention and the heroism it enables. His character develops from a fame-driven individual into a more cooperative partner, ultimately working alongside his sister to face greater threats, including the appearance of a third, unknown user of the Mol Unit who is later revealed to be their younger brother, Nozomu. Notable abilities, aside from his genius-level intellect, are entirely derived from the Mol Unit, including flight, super-strength, intangibility, and extreme durability. However, the unit has a critical limitation: it operates for only 666 seconds (just over 11 minutes) before timing out and vanishing, leaving the user completely naked, as the formation of the barrier shreds any ordinary clothing.
