Description
Koharu Hotta is a member of the Kisaragi Girls’ High baseball team, playing center field and batting third in the lineup. She is originally from the coastal town of Tosa on Shikoku island, where her father worked as a fisherman. Growing up near the sea, she spent much of her time fishing, an activity that developed her physical strength and led to her notable swing technique, called the Wave Motion Swing. Before entering high school, Koharu played baseball on a boys’ team until her gender was discovered. This experience made her the only member of the Kisaragi team with genuine baseball experience at the beginning of the series.

Koharu’s background as a fisherman’s daughter instilled a strong work ethic and a lasting connection to the ocean; her hobby remains fishing. Her time on the boys’ team gave her practical knowledge of the game and refined her skills, especially her batting. She bats and throws right-handed. Her powerful swing, honed through years of hauling in fish, allows her to hit home runs that often clear the field entirely. Along with teammate Izumi Himuro, Koharu is considered one of the two strongest batters on the team, making her a crucial offensive weapon for the Kisaragi squad.

Motivated by a desire to contribute to the team’s success and to continue playing baseball at a competitive level, Koharu is a dedicated athlete who gives her best effort in every game. She is focused and reliable, bringing a calm and steady presence to the field. Her teammates respect her for her skill and her supportive nature; she is often seen offering encouragement to those around her. Over the course of the series, Koharu’s growth as a player is evident through her consistent performance and her ability to rise to the occasion in important matchups. She remains an integral part of the team’s journey to reach the national high school baseball championship at Koshien. Her bond with Izumi and the other players strengthens as they work together toward their shared goal.
