Movie
Description
Hades holds the rank of Colonel within the Olympus Regular Army and serves as a primary antagonist driven by a deep-seated hatred for Bioroids. His past includes service in the LAPD SWAT unit, from which he was disgraced and dismissed by an officer named Carl Knute. Following this downfall, he climbed the ranks in the Olympus military while nurturing a genocidal disdain for Bioroids, a prejudice intensified because these artificial beings are clones of his former adversary, Carl.
His personality is defined by this intense, personal vendetta. He is depicted as particularly hateful and cunning, willing to stage a coup d'état against the ruling Central Management Bureau and the city-state's leader, Athena Areios, to achieve his goals. His motivations are not ideological but deeply personal; his primary drive is revenge against Carl Knute. He aims to erase Carls legacy entirely by allowing the Bioroid race to die out, viewing their extinction as the ultimate retribution.
In the story, Hades is a central figure in the conflict within Olympus. He secretly orchestrates an assault on the Bioroid life-extension facilities, smuggling parts into the city to construct a trio of Landmates for the attack. Later, he leads a mission to intercept the main characters after they uncover the Appleseed, a critical data packet for Bioroid reproduction. His actions directly oppose the protagonists, Deunan Knute and Briareos Hecatonchires, and he serves as a physical and ideological threat to the coexistence of humans and Bioroids.
His key relationships are rooted in animosity. He holds a bitter grudge against Carl Knute, which transfers to Carls daughter, Deunan. He also has a complex dynamic with the cyborg Briareos; during their first confrontation, Briareos intentionally missed when he could have stopped Hades, a fact Hades later reveals to Deunan to sow doubt and claim a form of victory. He is also associated with General Uranus, though his ultimate loyalty is to his own genocidal mission.
Hades demonstrates tactical capabilities as a colonel and the ruthlessness to lead a coup and direct lethal attacks. He is proficient in operating advanced military hardware like Landmates. Physically, he is described as an adult male with blue eyes and blond or yellow hair cut to ear length. His development shows no redemption arc; instead, his motivations are fully revealed to be a personal vendetta against the legacy of Carl Knute, clarifying that his anti-Bioroid stance is a tool for this revenge rather than a pure ideology. His story concludes when Deunan Knute shoots him in the head with her fathers gun, killing him as he attempted to gun down Briareos.
