Description
Darzorne, also known as Dalzollene, is a supporting character introduced during the Yorknew City story arc. His primary role is the captain of the bodyguards for Neon Nostrade, the daughter of a powerful mafia don. As such, he holds the rank of direct superior to Kurapika after the latter is hired into the Nostrade family. In physical appearance, Darzorne is a tall, slender man with short, spiky black hair and distinctive markings, resembling tribal tattoos, running from below his eyes down to his cheekbones. He typically dresses in simple, utilitarian clothing, such as a white striped sweater and pants, reflecting his no-nonsense approach to his profession.

Darzorne’s personality is defined by a stern and extremely pragmatic, if not ruthless, professionalism. He is utterly dedicated to his job of protecting Neon and serving the Nostrade family, displaying a fierce loyalty to his employer. This dedication makes him a capable and experienced leader, but also one who can appear cold and indifferent to the welfare of his subordinates. He is shown to have little patience for failure, famously instructing new recruits that the safest course of action is to treat every person approaching their employer as an enemy, rather than trying to predict potential threats. His background also suggests a deep appreciation for music, revealing a more contemplative side beneath his hardened exterior. In moments of crisis, he can display a furious temper, a trait that aligns with the mafia environment he operates in.

The motivations of Darzorne are straightforward and professional. His main drive is to successfully carry out his orders, which primarily involve ensuring the safety of Neon Nostrade and securing the valuable auction items her father requires. He is driven by a sense of duty and perhaps the pride of his position, and he shows a desire to capture and eliminate the Phantom Troupe after they disrupt the underground auction, viewing their actions as a direct challenge to his authority and the family's interests. His role in the story is crucial for the Yorknew City arc as he is the leader who formally integrates Kurapika, Leorio, and other new hires into the Nostrade family's security force. He coordinates their missions, from escorting Neon to the auction city to the later operation of capturing and interrogating the Troupe member Uvogin. His position makes him a central figure around whom the non-Troupe characters operate during the arc's first half.

His key relationships are primarily professional. As the captain, he has a direct authority over Kurapika, and while their interactions are strictly business, it is under Darzorne’s command that Kurapika begins his work for the mafia. He frequently reports to Light Nostrade, Neon’s father, and is often seen trying to manage the volatile and capricious moods of Neon herself, for whom he serves as a primary caretaker and protector. Darzorne has a notable, though negative, relationship with the Phantom Troupe. He is present when Uvogin easily shrugs off a bazooka blast and later witnesses Kurapika capturing the powerful member. His eventual death comes at the hands of Phinks, another Troupe member, when they infiltrate the Nostrade hideout to rescue Uvogin.

In terms of development, Darzorne remains a static character; he is already a seasoned and fully-formed professional when introduced. His story is not one of personal growth but rather a demonstration of the immense threat posed by the Phantom Troupe. Despite his experience, cunning, and Nen abilities, he is outmatched and killed by a superior force, which serves to raise the narrative stakes and demonstrate the power gap Kurapika must overcome. Darzorne is a capable Nen user who specializes in Enhancement, a category that increases his natural physical abilities and the power of his weapons. His primary weapon is a katana inscribed with ancient, runic symbols. By channeling his aura, or Nen, into these inscriptions, he can greatly amplify the sword's cutting power and durability. Furthermore, his Nen training has made his body exceptionally resilient; it is stated that he can withstand being shot by ten bullets without suffering fatal injury, a testament to his defensive capabilities. Despite these formidable abilities, which allow him to hold his own against lesser foes, they prove insufficient against the raw, overwhelming force of a member of the Phantom Troupe.
