Description
Marion Phauna is a fictional character from the Shaman King series, serving as one of the followers of Hao Asakura and a member of the team called Hana-Gumi alongside Kanna Bismarch and Matilda Matisse. She originates from Naples, Italy, and was born on February 28, 1987, as the daughter of a Mafia boss. From childhood, she possessed psychokinetic powers. In terms of appearance, she is a young girl with very long blonde hair and green eyes, often dressed in Lolita fashion, and she frequently refers to herself in the third person in the original Japanese version. Her personality is generally quiet and unexpressive, but this calm exterior can abruptly shift to reveal deep-seated hatred, a result of the painful past she shares with her teammates. She dislikes hearing others talk about their dreams, viewing such talk as a sign of weakness, and her cold demeanor is a shield for inner hurt. She also has a habit of laughing while covering her face with her hands. Marion is somewhat egotistical and outlandish, standing in clear contrast to the more boisterous Matilda. Her motivations are tied to her loyalty to Hao, and she participates in the Shaman Fight to help him become the Shaman King. Within her team, she acts as a balancing presence between the serious Kanna and the carefree Matilda, and she cares for both of them, though she struggles to openly express affection. Her role in the story is that of a supporting antagonist, and while she receives limited development in the main series, her background and personality are explored more deeply in the spin-off Shaman King & a Garden. As a shaman, Marion specializes as a puppet master, using a worn, silent doll named Chuck as her spirit ally and the channel for her OverSoul, which she employs in place of an Oracle Bell. Her furyoku level is 8000. Her techniques with Chuck include the close-range Proximity Burst, where she charges at the enemy and fires a powerful shot, and the more precise Magnum Craft. She is also capable of standard shaman abilities such as spirit perception and spirit channeling.
