Description
Lacitos, also known as Bijou in the English dub and Ribon-chan in Japanese, is a female hamster who first appears in the early episodes of the anime Hamtaro. She originally comes from France and moves to Japan with her owner, a girl named Maria. From the moment she arrives, Lacitos quickly becomes a central member of the Ham-Hams, the group of hamsters who gather at the Ham-Ham Clubhouse.

Lacitos is characterized by her gentle, kind, and caring nature. She is often described as graceful and elegant, and many of the other hamsters, especially the males, find her beautiful both inside and out. Despite her calm demeanor, she is not overly shy; she actively participates in the group's adventures and is always ready to help her friends. One of her defining traits is her deep romantic affection for Hamtaro, the main protagonist. She has harbored feelings for him since soon after her arrival, and much of her internal motivation centers on trying to express those feelings, though she often becomes clumsy or nervous when attempting to declare her love. This shyness around romance is a recurring trait she shares with Hamtaro, who is equally oblivious and flustered about such matters.

In the story, Lacitos serves as the deuteragonist and the primary female protagonist. She is indispensable to the group, especially in matters involving emotions or relationships, as Hamtaro often relies on her insight when dealing with romantic or interpersonal problems among the Ham-Hams. Together, they form the most recognized duo in the series, frequently working side by side to solve challenges. She is also one of the more resourceful and crafty members of the group, though her composure tends to slip when her own love life is involved.

Her key relationships include a close friendship with the other female hamsters, such as Pashmina, Penelope, and Tigerlily, with whom she shares a strong bond of trust. She respects and cares deeply for her owner, Maria, and is protective of her well-being. Among the male hamsters, she is particularly valued by Boss, who looks out for her, though she sees him only as a good friend. Her romantic interest in Hamtaro is the most significant relationship in her story arc, and it remains a central emotional thread throughout the series. Later on, she acquires a rival for Hamtaro's affection in the form of Sparkle, another female hamster, which introduces moments of jealousy and competition, but Lacitos generally maintains a friendly attitude toward her rivals.

Lacitos does not possess any overt supernatural abilities; her notable qualities are her keen intuition regarding others' feelings, her ability to remain calm in most situations (except when Hamtaro is involved romantically), and her knack for helping to resolve conflicts among friends. She is also a skilled communicator who often mediates or offers advice within the group. Over the course of the series, she develops a bit more confidence in herself, though her fundamental shyness about love never fully disappears. She remains a constant, warm presence in the Ham-Hams, and her role as Hamtaro's closest companion and unspoken love interest gives her a lasting place at the heart of the story.
