Description
Zonmi-chan is a clumsy, careless zombie girl with a cute and endearing appearance. Her undead existence fuels an insatiable craving for human flesh, causing her to occasionally bite those she likes, which creates tension between her condition and normal interactions. Revived by scientist Dr. Hitoshi, her caretaker, she relies on his synthetic meat pies to manage her hunger and coexist with humans. Despite her zombie nature, she maintains intelligence and a distinct personality.

Her daily efforts to integrate into human society often result in absurd or chaotic situations. These include attending school, foraging for ingredients in cemeteries, and interacting with humans—actions that frequently lead to misunderstandings or unintentional scares due to her zombie traits. She forms bonds, particularly with a human girl named Miu, who progresses from fear to acceptance of her quirks. Through these struggles and relationships—with Dr. Hitoshi, Miu, eccentric humans, and other zombies—themes of acceptance and identity emerge. Zonmi-chan displays a fundamentally kind-hearted, curious nature, genuinely seeking connection.

In a separate Halloween scenario, multiple versions of her overpower a soldier, reinforcing her role in horror-comedy contexts without impacting core development. Beyond the initial special and Halloween short, no substantial character development or expanded background occurs in documented seasons, movies, or spin-offs. Crowdfunding efforts for future episodes did not yield further canonical exploration.
