TV-Series
Description
Ikki Yoneda serves as the general commander of the Imperial Combat Revue and the general manager of the Imperial Opera Troupe, holding the rank of lieutenant general. Born on April 1, 1861 in Tokyo, he is a decorated veteran of the Russo-Japanese War, where he was promoted after commanding a retreat in a fictional major battle. As a former member of the original Army Anti-Demon Squad, he fought alongside Kazuma Shinguji, Ayame Fujieda, and Shinnosuke Yamazaki before the events of the main story.

On the surface, Yoneda presents himself as a relaxed and often intoxicated old man who enjoys drinking sake in his office. He has a playful and somewhat mischievous personality, frequently joking with the younger members of the Flower Division. When protagonist Ichiro Ogami first arrives for his assignment, Yoneda deliberately confuses him by pretending the Imperial Combat Revue is nothing more than a simple theater troupe, a test meant to determine whether Ogami possesses the proper character to lead his subordinates. This behavior masks a much deeper and more serious nature. Behind his drunken demeanor, Yoneda carries profound guilt and sadness over sending young women into combat. He has often expressed that no father would ever turn his own daughters into soldiers or send them to a deadly battlefield, yet his position forces him to do exactly that.

Yoneda's primary motivation throughout the series is the protection of Tokyo and the safety of the young women under his command. He treats the members of the Flower Division as if they were his own children and is willing to sacrifice his own life to save them. This is particularly evident in his relationship with Sakura Shinguji, the daughter of his former comrade Kazuma. Sakura considers Yoneda a second father, and he feels a deep emotional responsibility for her well-being. Despite his lighthearted exterior, Yoneda is an extremely competent strategist who demonstrates decisive leadership when the Combat Revue must be dispatched against demonic threats.

In the story, Yoneda serves as a mentor and commanding officer, conducting tests of character and providing guidance from behind the scenes. His role is largely that of a supportive elder figure who facilitates the growth of younger characters, particularly Ogami, whom he eventually entrusts with leadership of the Combat Revue. Yoneda has experienced tremendous personal loss throughout his life. All three of his former comrades from the Anti-Demon Squad met tragic fates: Kazuma Shinguji sacrificed himself to seal a powerful demon, Ayame Fujieda gave her life in battle, and Shinnosuke Yamazaki was corrupted into becoming the primary antagonist Aoi Satan. By the end of the second game, Yoneda stands as the sole survivor of that original unit.

His character undergoes significant development as he gradually learns to trust the younger generation with the future he helped build. After the events of Sakura Wars 4, Yoneda voluntarily retires from his positions, formally handing over command of the Imperial Combat Revue and management of the Imperial Opera Troupe to Ogami. He walks away satisfied, confident that his beloved family and friends are now in capable hands. Regarding abilities, Yoneda has lost his spiritual power by the time of the main story and no longer fights on the front lines. He is described as one of the army's greatest strategists, known for achieving necessary victories with minimal losses. He also wields a sword, a katana, as a weapon.
