Description
Corin Nander is a Moonrace soldier from the anime Turn A Gundam. Originally a prisoner serving a cryogenic sentence in a military facility, he was pardoned and released by the regent Agrippa Maintainer. Along with his subordinates, Bruno and Jacop, he was sent to Earth as a reinforcement for the Dianna Counter forces.

Visually, Corin is a physically imposing figure with a muscular build. His most distinctive features are the large blue bruises around his left eye and his frizzy, shaven-headed hairstyle. These unusual characteristics are not natural; they are the result of errors that occurred during the cryogenic thawing process. Before his imprisonment, he was said to have been a handsome man with long blonde hair.

Corin Nander is a survivor of the Dark History, the ancient, forgotten era of devastating conflict. The Moonrace technology that allowed him to survive for thousands of years also inflicted severe brain damage. Consequently, his personality is highly unstable and changes dramatically depending on his mental state. When not engaged in combat, he can be delusional and almost childlike, displaying an eccentric and spontaneous manner. After a period of amnesia, he adopts the persona of a gentle, docile Buddhist monk, showing a capacity for kindness such as carving dolls for children. However, this peaceful nature is a fragile facade.

His core motivation and driving obsession is the absolute destruction of the Gundam. He is one of the few characters in the series who refers to the Turn A specifically as a "Gundam" or "White Devil," and he recognizes it with primal terror and hatred. This fixation stems from his memories of the Dark History, where he witnessed the immense suffering and civilization-destroying power of Gundams firsthand. For him, the Gundam is a symbol of annihilation that must not be allowed to exist. His obsession is so powerful that it overrides even his fanatical loyalty to Queen Dianna Soriel, whom he otherwise reveres.

Corin's role in the story evolves significantly. He is initially a formidable antagonist, whose relentless pursuit of the Turn A Gundam, piloted by Loran Cehack, leads to widespread destruction, including the devastation of Nocis City. In a climactic battle, his mobile suit, the Eagail, falls into a volcano, and he is presumed dead. He later resurfaces as an amnesiac monk, leading to an uneasy but genuine friendship with Dianna. His memories and violent instincts are explosively reignited when he sees a festival's straw replica of the Turn A, sending him on a rampage.

Eventually, after regaining his senses, he chooses to fight alongside Loran and Dianna against the forces of Gym Ghingham. In the final battle, he pilots a customized red Kapool equipped with his signature Minchi Drill and a unique Rocket Punch, showcasing his exceptional piloting skills. In his final moments, he sacrifices himself to break a stalemate between the Turn A and Turn X, accepting the destructive power of the Moonlight Butterfly. His death is thematically significant, as he dies not hating the Gundam, but shouting that the Turn A has the power to forge a new era.

Corin's key relationships are limited but impactful. His interactions with Dianna Soriel highlight his conflicting loyalties—between his duty to her and his pathological need to destroy the Gundam. His rivalry with the protagonist Loran Cehack is central to his arc, beginning with pure animosity and ending with mutual respect as allies.

Regarding his origins, no definitive explanation is given in the series for which specific era of the Dark History he came from. However, a brief scene in the show where his memory flashes to the face of the Wing Gundam Zero from the After Colony timeline has led to widespread speculation that he may have originated from that era. Theories differ on whether he is a specific character in disguise or simply an elite soldier from that period.
