Description
Born in Mexico on April 2, 1917, Rikaritta Aries (also known as Rosarita "Rosita" Aries in some localizations) lost her mother young. Her father raised her, imparting expert gunsmanship that forged her into a skilled bounty hunter wielding twin Remington Model 1858 revolvers – one gold-plated, one silver-plated. He also gave her a pet weasel, Niccolo, whom she jokingly calls emergency rations yet genuinely cherishes.
Tragedy struck during a rainstorm when a failed performance plunged Rikaritta and her father into a flooding river. He drowned saving her and Niccolo, leaving her orphaned. This instilled a deep fear of failure and abandonment, fueling perfectionism and a reluctance to form close bonds. Seeking a new life, she traveled to New York City, residing in an abandoned Bay Area warehouse and supporting herself through bounty hunting.
In New York, Rikaritta encountered and joined the New York Combat Revue's Star Division. Her fear of loss surfaced immediately; when teammate Shinjiro Taiga protected her, she isolated herself, believing closeness led to pain. Gradually, she bonded deeply with the team, especially Shinjiro (nicknamed "Shins") and Sagitta Weinberg, who became an older sister figure. Her energetic, playful nature emerged during group activities, though her unconventional upbringing left her socially awkward and craving approval.
Rikaritta exhibits relentless optimism and a hearty appetite, particularly for meat and pancakes discovered with the Combat Revue, often spending bounty earnings on meals. Despite her cheerful exterior, the trauma of her father's death lingers, causing vulnerability when she senses rejection or failure.
As a combatant, she pilots the green STAR unit "Shooting Star," specializing in long-range attacks with dual firearms, including shotguns, utilizing her precision shooting. Her attire includes a green, red, and yellow poncho over an olive green dress, brown boots, a gun belt, and brown hair in twin braids tied with red ribbons.
Her journey across media sees her confronting fears of abandonment during missions against demonic threats in *Sakura Wars V: So Long, My Love*, where she appears throughout and receives a dedicated character ending. The *Sakura Wars: New York* OVA, set after the game, depicts her continuing as an active Star Division member across all six episodes. Her path culminates in embracing her found family, mitigating the fear of loss through trust and camaraderie.
