TV-Series
Description
Jorgito, known in the original Japanese version as Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya, is a first-grade student at Teitan Elementary School and a founding member of the Detective Boys. He is approximately six to seven years old and weighs twenty kilograms. His parents are both teachers, which has instilled in him a strict and formal upbringing, and he has an older sister named Asami who is about ten years his senior. Jorgito is a smart and well-read child who enjoys reading science books and tends to take a scientific and logical approach to problem-solving, believing that technology can resolve many issues. Due to his formal home environment, he is consistently polite and uses respectful language when addressing adults.
One of his defining traits is his eagerness to be prepared for any situation, as he enjoys studying scientific and historical subjects for his own interest. This habit often proves useful in investigations, allowing him to provide valuable insights. For instance, when the Detective Boys were solving riddles that were later destroyed, Jorgito was able to produce notes he had taken, anticipating that something might happen to the original clues. Despite his intelligence, he still acts like a child his age, enjoying activities like treasure hunting and building snowmen, and he has a well-known dislike for carrots. His motivation stems from a genuine curiosity about the world and a desire to be helpful, often stepping up as a leader for the Detective Boys when Conan and Ai Haibara are not present.
Within the group, Jorgito shares close friendships with his teammates Ayumi Yoshida and Genta Kojima. He is also in a constant, friendly rivalry with Conan Edogawa, admiring Conan’s intelligence and courage while sometimes feeling jealous of him, particularly regarding Ayumi’s obvious crush on Conan. His most notable personal development has been his changing romantic feelings. While he liked Ayumi since kindergarten, he developed a crush on Ai Haibara after she joined the class, admiring her intelligence and competence. This leaves him in a state of confusion about his own feelings, which has been explored in several episodes and movies, including a moment where he confided that he likes both girls equally and wondered if that made him a bad person.
Throughout the series, Jorgito has shown significant development. In the Desperate Revival arc, when the group was trapped in a cavern and Conan fainted, Jorgito was the one who solved the riddle leading to their escape. During the Mushrooms, Bears, and the Detective Boys case, he demonstrated resourcefulness and courage by making a bandage for an injured Ai Haibara, carrying her to safety, and leaving a coded signal for their friends, an incident which also sparked his romantic feelings for her. Another key moment was in Mitsuhiko's Mystifying Forest, where he ventured alone into a forest to catch fireflies for Ayumi and Haibara, leading to an encounter with an escaped serial killer who ultimately spared him due to their shared appreciation for the insects. His notable abilities include an above-average knowledge base for his age, proficiency with electronic gadgets, and the capacity to lead investigations or decipher codes when the older members of the group are unavailable.
