Description
Adeline is a sixteen-year-old girl and the youngest of three sisters. Unlike her siblings, she is the only one in her family who practices martial arts, a pursuit she inherited from her father. Her life is shaped by an arranged engagement to a boy named Ranma, a promise made between their fathers. Though she publicly rejects the idea of becoming his fiancée, she harbors genuine romantic feelings for him that she refuses to admit openly. Adeline has a fierce temper and is quick to anger, often directing her violent outbursts at Ranma and jumping to conclusions when she finds him in compromising situations. Beneath her tough, boyish exterior, she is sensitive and caring, deeply affected by the early loss of her mother. Her jealousy is easily sparked whenever another girl shows interest in Ranma, revealing her hidden affection. Adeline struggles with wanting to be seen as more mature and feminine, and she has a well-known inability to swim. Her attempts at cooking are famously terrible, often resulting in inedible dishes. As a skilled martial artist, she is strong and confident in a fight, though she sometimes defeats only weaker opponents. Her key relationships include her volatile bond with Ranma, her protectiveness over her sisters and father, and an unknowing affection for a cursed young man who, in his piglet form, she keeps as a pet. Over time, she gradually becomes more honest about her feelings for Ranma, and moments of genuine connection and mutual support punctuate their constant bickering.
