Description
Arashi Fuuma is a character who appears exclusively in the anime adaptation of Naruto, introduced during a story arc set in the Land of Rice Fields. He is a shinobi of the Fuuma clan and the cousin of a young kunoichi named Sasame. Arashi was considered the great hope of his clan, who were struggling to recover and rebuild their strength after a devastating war with a neighboring country.

Driven by a desire to restore his clan to its former glory, Arashi made a fateful decision to seek power from the notorious rogue ninja Orochimaru. He, along with several other clan members, swore loyalty to Orochimaru in exchange for the strength they believed they needed. This decision, however, led him down a dark path. In his quest for power, Arashi killed two of his own kinsmen, Jigumo and Kamikiri, and used a forbidden technique to absorb their bodies, turning them into macabre extensions of himself.

In terms of personality, memories of Arashi from before his corruption depict him as friendly and amiable. However, after integrating the corpses of his comrades into his own body through a technique known as the Casualty Puppet or Shisa Kugutsu, his sanity deteriorated drastically. He became ruthless and cruel, even mockingly taunting his opponents. Under the influence of this power, he lost his former kindness and showed a willingness to kill his own cousin Sasame, as well as Naruto Uzumaki and Sakura Haruno, without remorse. This technique granted him immense power but came at the great cost of his mental stability and moral compass.

Arashi's role in the story is that of an antagonist. He initially impersonates Orochimaru to lure and test Naruto and his team. When confronted, he reveals his transformed state, using the bodies of his fallen clansmen as living puppets attached to his back. His primary objective is to eliminate anyone who interferes with his plans, showcasing the tragic result of the Fuuma clan's desperation and Orochimaru's corrupting influence. The conflict with Naruto and the others, particularly the pleas of his cousin Sasame, serves as the climax of his character arc. A significant shock to his system, caused by Naruto breaking free from his technique, momentarily restores his original senses.

His most notable abilities stem from the Fuuma clan's secret techniques. He was one of the clan's most talented members and could perform a technique called the Curse Mandala or Jubaku Mandara. This jutsu creates a large, pyramid-shaped, multicolored barrier that traps an opponent inside and then slowly constricts to crush them. To maintain this prison, the user must hold a specific triangular hand seal. If the victim is strong enough to break the barrier from within, it results in a massive explosion of energy that harms the user while leaving the prisoner safe at the epicenter. His more devastating power came from the forbidden technique that allowed him to absorb the bodies of other Fuuma clan members, granting him use of their limbs and unique jutsu as his own. This absorption, however, was what rendered his personality highly unstable and ultimately led to his downfall. In his final moments, as his hideout began to collapse from the battle, Arashi chose to remain behind, accepting his death as a form of atonement for the sins he had committed against his clan and his own humanity.
