Description
M'Quve is a colonel in the Principality of Zeon's Assault Mobile Force who serves as a direct subordinate to Kycilia Zabi during the One Year War. He is placed in command of a vast mining operation in Zeon-occupied Eastern Europe, centered around the Odessa region. His primary military role is to extract vital mineral resources needed to sustain Zeon's war machine, and he takes great pains to conceal the full scope of this operation from other members of the Zabi family, reporting only to Kycilia. His mining efforts are so extensive that he later boasts the accumulated resources could allow Zeon to fight for another ten years.

M'Quve is characterized by a calculating, aristocratic temperament and a polished, elegant manner of speaking. He is ruthless and willing to use any means necessary to achieve his objectives, including violating the Antarctic Treaty by threatening to launch a nuclear missile when his forces are cornered during Operation Odessa. His strategic mind focuses on political maneuvering and bureaucratic control rather than frontline tactics, making him more of a politician than a military commander. He is known for his deep appreciation of Earth's culture, especially antique ceramics, and collects white porcelain vases from the Northern Song dynasty, which he displays in his office. This refined taste contrasts sharply with his willingness to commit atrocities.

Throughout the story, M'Quve repeatedly conflicts with the Federation ship White Base and its pilot Amuro Ray. He attempts to set traps to destroy the Gundam, and at one point lies to Ramba Ral about sending Dom mobile suits in order to protect his mining base from discovery. When the Federation's Odessa offensive overwhelms his position, he hires the traitorous Federation general Elran to sabotage the advance, but this plan is exposed by Amuro. Forced to retreat to space, he assumes command of the relief fleet for the fortress of Solomon, where he initially tries to abandon the escape pods containing Dozle Zabi's wife and daughter before being pressured by his subordinates to rescue them.

M'Quve's most significant relationship is with Kycilia Zabi, to whom he is completely loyal. He sees her as a kindred spirit who appreciates elegance and class, and he devotes himself to her advancement without question. He also has a tense rivalry with Char Aznable, disliking that Kycilia begins to rely heavily on Char. When Char offers to help him during a battle at the Texas Colony, M'Quve refuses out of pride, a decision that proves fatal.

His character undergoes a notable shift from bureaucrat to combatant. After years of commanding from a distance, he personally pilots a custom mobile suit, the YMS-15 Gyan, designed specifically for him by Zimmad. He engages Amuro Ray in single combat inside the Texas Colony, employing tactics such as blowing up asteroids, planting bombs in the colony's airlock, and scattering floating mines. Although he puts up a better fight than Char expected, his overconfidence and inability to adapt to Amuro's growing Newtype abilities lead to his defeat. He is killed when the Gundam's beam sabers pierce his mobile suit from both sides. Before dying, he entrusts a subordinate with one of his treasured white porcelain vases as a final gift for Kycilia.

As a pilot, M'Quve is competent but not exceptional. His strengths lie in organization, resource management, and political manipulation. His tactical thinking is methodical, but his arrogance and lack of frontline experience prevent him from adjusting when his plans fail. He lacks the intuitive combat instincts of a Newtype, and his pride ultimately costs him his life.
